The citizen’s house also develops projects aiming at consolidating social cohesion, with the help of 8 volunteers : 6 french volunteers and 2 international volunteers.

This Youth Department aims at spreading information about opportunities for local youth between 16 and 25, support them in their participation to citizenship projects, volunteering, and organise cultural or educational activities locally.

Individual volunteering allows you to contribute to the daily work of an organisation that is actively benefiting the local community.

It is a place of exchange, sharing and welcome between the inhabitants of the district, the team of the Gare Franche / Le ZEF and the artists in residence.

Your mission can be to accompany classes on trips or to events. You can also help the german teachers during german lessons (do presentations, organise activities or workshops, help pupils with exam preparation, tutor pupils who want to learn more and who need it, propose individual conversation trainings). You can also help the teachers of the Euro classes (a specific class where pupils learn german doing sport). You can propose activities, do presentations on different topics, accompany the pupils on school trips (rather sport oriented).

For this mission, you need to be interested in working with teenagers, language and sport!

The association has different missions:

The volunteer will come to promote multiculturalism by learning a foreign language, respect of the nature and other human beings. You will take part in the school daily life by organising activities for the children. As activities that you could set up, during your mission, mostly cultural and ecological workshops but you will have also the space to propose your own topics. You could also be invited by the volunteer hosted in the highschool of Briançon to create commun activities.

For this mission, you need to be interested in working with young kids, language and nature!

H.A.S is running different shelters, the activities of the volunteer will take place in two specific shelters, one hosting only women, and the other one hosting families and young people with migration background. H.A.S. aims at giving access to different kind of activities to the residents, in order to foster the inclusion and social link.

The association proposes information and services that cover all themes of Youth Information : education and studies, training courses, jobs, employment, health, everyday life, leisures and cultural activities, sports, holidays, international mobility.

Your main mission will be helping the german teacher during german lessons. You don’t teach yourself but for example you help the pupils when they have exercices to do, you help them with the pronounciation, you play games with smaller groups. Sometimes you’ll have missions at the library (one day per week). Depending on your skills and interests you can help organising workshops during lunch break (clubs). You can even participate in other classes (like english lessons) and many more things like helping the «vie scolaire» if you want to.

For this mission, you need to be interested in working with teenagers and language!

Avignon is a relatively small charming city in the south of France. You will be accomodated in a building inside the school campus. You’ll live with another volunteer and language assistants.

1 mission in the secondary school

The mission is mainly in the school library and also helping in classrooms (english and math).

In the library, the volunteer helps organizing and labeling books, helps students borrow and return them, and keeps things in order. Once a week, the volunteer can join the school’s Web Radio team to prepare and record special podcasts together with students and teachers. During the english and math class (that sometimes are in english), the volunteer helps students with their activities and worksheets, especially the students who need extra support.

1 mission in the highschool

In the library, the volunteer helps organizing and labeling books, helps students borrow and return them, and keeps things in order.

With the english teacher, the role of the volunteer is to encourage students to speak more English by organizing interactive activities like games, debates, or discussing moral dilemmas.

From time to time, the volunteer can help organizing school trips and excursions when extra support is needed.

Sending and hosting international volunteers, organising intercultural youth exchanges, organising international trainings for youth workers, organising local actions to promote youth mobility, languages, interculturality and to fight against discriminations

Your tasks include :

Your main mission will be helping the spanish teacher and the mathematic teacher during lessons : you can propose some activities and workshops, help the pupils. You can also help organising a school trip in spain (organising visits, contacting the school in spain, etc). You can help at the library (CDR), and prepare activities for the «café lecture». You can develop your personnal project on the subject of your choice, that will be exhibited at the library.

In the house (hosting women only) located in Noailles in the city center of Marseille, your mission is to work together with the team to break the isolation of the women hosted by HAS, and create a group dynamic.

This is done through collective activities, such as : workshops based on the interest of the volunteers and the women, excursions (cinema, theatre, trip abroad..), collective events in the house...

Mission B

The mission takes place in a MECS (social center hosting people under 18) where are hosted young people with migration background. The MECS is located in the neighborhood "Belle de Mai", but the volunteer will live in the city center.

The mission here too is to support the collective life of the center and organise activities with the young people hosted such as : workshops based on the interest of the volunteers and the yougsters, excursions (cinema, theatre..), collective events in the house...

The volunteers are supported by the whole team: they will give you ideas, help you widen your network, support you in your missions, especially with the residents.

Supervised by the ZEF’s gardening coordinator and cooking coordinator.

Planned activities throughout the year:

- In the Kitchen: Every first Tuesday of the month, welcoming around 50 people (families from the neighborhood). Preparing the site, lighting the bread oven, preparing the dish to be served with the cooking coordinator, preparing an activity for the children, welcoming the participants, cleaning up the site.

- In the Kitchen for Groups: Regular activities offered to school groups, community centers, healthcare centers…

- At the Compost: Twice a week, welcoming residents who bring their food waste to be composted. In exchange, they leave with eggs from the henhouse.

- In the Garden: Two afternoons a month, welcoming groups (schools, community centers, etc.) for a gardening workshop.

- From Garden to Plate at the Media Library: 25 workshops throughout the year for the neighborhood preschool. Cooking workshop with the ZEF cooking instructor, gardening workshop with the ZEF gardening instructor, drawing/reading workshop with the instructor from the neighboring library.

- Children's Cinema: During each school holiday, a cooking workshop to prepare a snack to share with the audience after the film screening.

as they are an amazing bonding experience!

There will be 7 – 11 missions overall that you will be working on. While most missions have an allocated time slot in the week, your weeks will look different every time depending on what needs to be done.

While the missions are never the same each year and are always very diverse, the framework stays the same. You will be working with senior citizens, children in a primary school, and children with disabilities. You will create projects around cultural heritage, sports, and solidarity. There will also be a project focused on the preservation of biodiversity. You will see the public you are working with regularly and are always

accompanied by your team and your team coordinator.

While the projects are already prepared, it is important for you to give your own input.

You will share an apartment not far from the city center with the other European volunteer. The apartment is well equipped and there is no need to worry about your living situation!

They will also take part in the daily life of the association, including team meetings and team-building activities. At Hors Pistes, volunteers will work collaboratively with the team throughout the year.

1 mission – European volunteer (Communication)
The volunteer will support the communication activities of the association by assisting the community manager. Tasks include collecting information, updating the website and social media, creating visual materials (posters, booklets), and taking photos. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to develop skills in tools such as Photoshop, Canva, and InDesign.

1 mission – Spanish volunteer (Local activities & internships)
The volunteer will support the local activities department by preparing and facilitating workshops in primary, secondary, or high schools.
The volunteer will also assist the internship department by helping to host Spanish interns in Marseille.

2 missions – European volunteers (Mobility projects)
The volunteers will support the team working on mobility projects, within either the youth exchanges department or the volunteering department.
Tasks include helping to recruit participants, and supporting the organisation of pre-departure and evaluation meetings.

• Accompany the éco-déléguées (elected students whose mission is to raise awareness around environmental causes through events and activities)

Attention : the volunteer must speak italian

You will be assisting the teachers during the italian lessons, which are around the italian language and civilisation. Your involvement can vary from answering questions to organising presentations or small workshops.

You will also be preparing the educational material necessary for the classes, with the help and direction of the teachers and language assistant.

Another task will be accompanying the classes during school trips and excursions, as well as some simple administrative tasks.
