In this month i have learn that journalism is the profession of writing for newspapers or of broadcasting news on radio or television. The New York Times, is one of the most popular newspapers today, was founded in 1851. The recent rise of social media has resulted in arguments to reconsider journalism as a process rather than attributing it to particular news products. From this perspective, journalism is participatory, a process distributed among multiple authors and involving journalists as well as the socially mediating public.

Journalism does not have to be a professional job that only, news anchors on T.V. do.

In Module one, The History of Journalism, I grasped an abundance of knowledge about how journalism came to be and its evolution throughout the years. I learned that journalism played an important part in our history and still plays an important part in our society now. One thing that stood out to me was the development of journalism and how the First Amendment was the starter to this development. If it was not for the First Amendment in the constitution the opportunity to be a journalist would cease to exist. The first amendment presents us with multiple rights but the one that specifically pertains to journalism is the right to free press, this right is the one that gives journalist the ability to write about significant events that take place globally. Journalism is like the founder to all the different platforms that we have of media today. The power that journalist hold is immense. When individuals are not informed about certain affairs that take place in different parts of the world, journalist are the ones who risk their lives in these countries where they run the consequences of being harmed because they are sometimes without protection. All in all, journalism is imperative to our society.

Without it, no one would know about the significant events that are happening around the world. I've realized how important journalism has been to world. It has shown us our surroundings and what it looks like in the good and bad times. I've, also, learned the different types of journalists there are. Each type is as equally important to all of us. Having a blog is just the same as radio news. We all report what's going and what we want to say too. Journalism isn't just news reporting, it's about expressing yourself and the truth.

It is an important part of daily life because it is involved in our media today such as, news channels on television, magazines, online articles, etc. Back then it wasn't as simple as typing up an essay or article and sending it to a publisher, some had to go on horse or foot and give out their work to people by hand, yet they still did it. This field of work requires dedicated and passionate people willing to work under different circumstances regardless of the risk.

Within Module one, I learned that journalism has much more respect and ground to it than I initially thought. As we began the module I learned that reporting news was necessary because it would be the only way to know what happens throughout the world. It is also necessary because it became a very important civil right. The First Amendment made the act of reporting and sharing news possible and much easier for the people of the United States. Throughout the years, because of this wonderful right we were given, reporting has advanced in many ways now with technology such as better cameras and the use of phones to receive news. With our advancing technology we have been able to hear of world news and respond to it as soon as possible. Through Module one, I learned that there is much more to Journalism as well. There are many different kinds of Journalists that do not specifically go by the name such as bloggers, photographers, and television reporters. I was able to fully understand the need for journalist and fully appreciate them. Journalist may express their opinion but their main goal express the truth as much as possible.

However, throughout the module, I was able to notice how much journalism has impacted our society. I also learned how the First Amendment made it possible for journalists to be able to share their observations and news to the world. With the advancement of technology, it has facilitated the process of sharing what is occurring in other places. Journalism went from being on paper to a simple click on an app. Nowadays, there is more to journalism than just writing due to technology. Being a journalist today compared to the 1900's is much more difficult due to more tasks having to be completed. After this module, being a journalist is not a simple task after all. Without journalism, we would be oblivious to what revolves around us.

If it wasn't for this right that we have as Americans, journalism would not be where it is today. I learned about the first technological advances in print media that helped create newspapers and how long the process was to make just one sheet.

In Module 1, I learned the rudiments of Journalism and it's evolution throughout the centuries.
Journalism has long been a crucial part of society. The content, however, was significantly more limited than it is today. Newspapers were run by small political parties and information was often biased. Another aspect that was different during those time were the means of transporting these newspapers or sources of journalism. Either traveling by horse, trains, telegraphs, or even by foot.
An advance in technology, transportation, and privilege of being protected by the First Amendment, shaped the journalism we have today. For example, everyone has the opportunity to be a journalist via Internet. Internet has not only made more journalists, but aided the spread of news in the matter of seconds. All in all, this Module has furthered my understanding on what it is to be a journalist, how it has changed, and how it has shaped our society today.

I got a better understanding of who journalists are and the different types of journalists that exist today. A lesson I found really interesting was the first one that talked about freedom of speach and the First Amendment! I found it to be very informative and relevent to situations happening today. The topic of who a journalist really is, I found very interesting. I dont think i was very knowledgable in this are so I feel like this lesson really helped me understand what journalism really is and what it consists of. It was really cool to find that journalism has been around for centuries and the way that it really eveolved today. So far, journalism seems like a very interesting subject with lots of components to it.

It also covered certain aspects of journalism that I would not think of like photojournalism.

I am excited to learn more about the topic. In addition, I was able to learned how journalism has impacted our lives and shaped society for the better. Without it, we won't able to know the current events that is happening all around us. I also learned how the First Amendment made the act of reporting and sharing to the world (freedom of speech and freedom of the press) possible by allowing people to openly express their opinion without fear of being killed or being in jail. Moreover, I learned that there's a different types of journalists such as television reporters, bloggers, radio broadcasters, and many more. Each type of journalist are equally important it gives us a variety to choose from. Because of technology, news can be reported in seconds just by one click on an app or online. This helps people to connect by creating an invisible bridge. Journalism is much more than just reporting the news; their main goal is to report the truth to the public as much of possible even if it means that their career is on the line.

Also the different types of journalism for example television broadcasting, radio, newspaper writings, and blogs. Also, we were taught that anyone can be a journalist and there is no official regulation regarding who can and who can't become or be considered a journalist.

I found it very helpful the way that the information was addressed. It wasn't over whelming and was pretty easy to understand. Not only that but it addressed ideas that we did not think about before yet were addressed. According to me I thought before that in order to be considered a journalist you had to study a specific field and you officially obtained the title of being considered a journalist. Also, I did not realize how important the first amendment actually is and how it sets us apart from the rest of the world, since there is a lot of oppression of the press in other countries.

It was created to let the people know what was going on around them and to entertain at times. It was made during the civil war on the 1700's, those passages let the people know about what was happening, the cause of the war and who did or didn't make it back. Journalism saddened yet gave joy to others, due to journalism and the sweat and passion journalists put into their stories, the people can get their "gossip".

I also learned that journalism does not only include writing but speaking as well.Such as, speaking in radio, whether it news, sports and sometimes even music stations would talk a little about news. There is also news report in television, which is what I'm really interested in the most. My plan B in life is to be a broadcaster or a news reporter which is a part of journalism.

The First Amendment was crucial in module one, it was mentioned a plethora of times. I learned how it came about and how it has changed throughout the years. Those changes have been incredible and they've only been positive.
Furthermore, the way technology has become better and better over the years kind of makes it easier on journalists. They get all the current news on their phones, computers, televisions, and radio as soon as it happens. In the past, it must have been pretty difficult to be a journalist.

Throughout this module, I have learned the history and impact of Journalism and its influence on the world through information acquisition and distribution. The effect of journalism on the lives of many individuals through expansive technological outlets gives an insight to the potential journalism has in shaping the world’s views and knowledge. Many people are reliant on journalists for not only information, but for truth as well. A true journalist utilizes the first amendment’s attributes of speech and press to monitor the actions of leaders and world events, to be watchful of possible corruption in various fields, and in general provide knowledge of the latest advancements and conditions of world progress. While a pure journalist is meant to be unbiased and efficient, the claws of ideology as such in accordance with human nature, maintains the very limitations of previous eras in the sense; that in the past information was limited to newspapers and article controlled by independent organizations or political affiliates to spread any opinionated information. While technology allows for information to be distributed and obtained quite easily, it is not without constraints or manipulation. The greatest struggle of any journalist is the maintenance of truth and remaining steadfast against ideological and political pressures. Oh course taking the reality of things, such course of action may lead the “pure” journalist without work. Since the average mass cannot use the internet in a critical way, the job of journalists to make the populous aware of events.
Freedom of press allows journalists to report on almost anything and Freedom of speech allows them to not limit themselves in reference to the information reported. However, it is the duty of Journalists to never let themselves be silenced by the zeitgeist of the many. Truth is above all. Now there are any different kinds of journalists such as reporters and online bloggers, those in the radio and those conducting investigations. All of these are just a part of the vast career opportunities available in the Journalistic field. All these come together to form an aspect of society that seeks truth and awareness.
