Students claim they are not allowed to bring chargers in, but the devices do not last all day. They should be encouraged to bring chargers to use during lessons. Another suggestion is to have a charging station in, say, ISS where students can put their device on charge at the beginning of lunch and collect it at the end. This way the devices are not left unsupervised on charge.

When planning a lesson on 1-1 devices, it is essential that students have a device each. If devices are 'with ITS' then there should be a system of loan replacements so that students can still participate in lessons. Otherwise either teachers have to prepare two lessons (one for students with and one for students without a device) or, more likely, resort to not using the fantastic features and capabilities of the 1-1 devices in their lessons.

Online course for students to complete in registration

I have found that quite a lot of Year 7/8 students have poor basic IT skills. A cool solution could be to set up a mini course for them on ebsb which they can complete in registration and get rewarded for (merits..). They could watch mini video tutorials and then complete a quiz linked to the video. We would naturally need to decide the basic skills we would expect them to have before setting up the course.

Fixing devices feels like a chore to students

Many of the problems I have faced in the classroom are due to the fact that students can't be bothered going to ISS to have their devices fixed. They have to wait at ISS and miss their break or a chunk of their lunch. Could one registration a week be given up to the tutor asking if there are any problems? A bit like Friday morning is quiz morning for a lot of us. Could each tutor group have an IT specialist or rep, a bit like student council? They could support peers and report ongoing problems.

A good idea to give replacements... This is what ITS do already... Most who say "it's with ITS" are not quite telling the truth when we did a purge recently, but currently no way teachers can discern this for themselves.
