During this time, there were not any nude female forms sculpted. Instead, men were used as models to create this stature of a Kore, (woman). Additionally, the garment she is wearing is called a peplos. These representations of women were often used as votive offerings to the gods and even also to mark graves. Originally, this statue was dedicated to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and strength on the Akropolis in Athens. Also, the statue would have originally been painted with bright colors and presented with metallic items. The artist responsible for creating the Peplos Kore statues is unknown.

This statue is one of the most famous sculptures ever made. Since the original structure did not survive, It is not known whether these are true copies of the original statue. The main reason for its popularity is that it is one of the first statues of a nude female. Goddesses had never been seen nude. This was a very erotic work, depicting beauty and sensuality. In this particular work the goddess, Aphrodite, is removing her clothes to get ready to bathe. There is a chance she was painted at some point but no one knows. No doubt, this statue marks the start of new works in the history of art.

For about 1100 years, these vestal virgins had dedicated their lives to the goddess Vesta, who is the protector of the Roman state. These women started from about the age of 6-10, and served for 30 years. They also had many privileges, such as important favors and also influence from clients/family. These statues were first found in 1883. Each vestal virgin is original in the sense that they all have their own hairstyles and facial features. Some of these statues remained for sixty years and the flame was guarded by a chief to make sure the flame never went out. The artist is unknown.

For thousands of years, outstanding sculptures were a very popular method of communication and representing essential entities.
Although restricted from freedom in many cultures, women have been depicted in very different ways through these methods of art. The sculptures of women from Archaic Greece, Late Classical Greece, and High Imperial Rome are some of the best examples that show how women's depictions and roles have changed over time. However, these sculptures of women all portray one thing in common: Power.
