-direct address and imperative “Videte, iudices” and “scitis, iudices
-certe is a forceful vocab choice

In the sentence where Cicero says that he has been accused of killing Clodius, the imperfect tense verb “discribebant” shows how the accusing has gone on for a long time. The words “latronem ac sicarium” associate Cicero with Clodius as those words were previously used to describe Clodius. By using “no doubt” Cicero places emphasis on the accusation but also adds a sense of irony to the point.

>direct address and imperatives - forceful ‘videte’
>’primum’ - his argument is structured

One way that Cicero convinces the Jury that the prosecution has a weak case is by arguing that Milo’s interrogation is pointless. He argues that Milo is ‘certainly freed (of suspicion)... to ambush Clodius’, structuring his argument beginning with ‘Primum’, ‘Firstly’, then reinforcing this by saying that the people accusing Milo of murder were In fact just ‘abject and desperate men’. This emphasises that the accusation of Milo seems ridiculous.

He appeals personally to the jury in the phrase “iudices”, where the apostrophe is emotive for the jury and encourages them to consider his points.

“Primum...deinde ” meaning “first...then” shows he has a structured argument as he is moving point by point through his discounting of the witnesses’ testimonies. Hence he contrasts his structured delivery with the poor construction of the witnesses’ statements to emphasise how weak the witnesses’ argument is.
