Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had started tweeting awful things about Taylor calling her a snake and faking phone calls. All because he came out with a song called "Famous" that said things that she never agreed with. This is also the time she went on the 1989 world tour with an eating disorder which was very hard. She also has a song Ft. Kendrick Lamar on this album.

This album came out in 2017. after Taylor came out of hiding because of all the Kanye drama, this was also her last album with Big Machine Records, this is because they started stealing her music and selling it to others without Taylor Swift even knowing so she cut them off. She also announced this album on tour in LA, and it came out in October of 2023. this album meant a lot to Taylor because her experience changed a lot from her re-recording and her original recording. originally she did not put her Bad Blood song ft Kendrick Lamar on this album but when her fans kept asking for it she came out and dropped it in the deluxe version.
