inside every single story, inside every stream in the Ocean, there lies a world, a story-world, that I [Khattam-Shud] cannot rule at all. (Rushdie, 161)

Even though it's a book series I feel like the series matches the book well. The Main character gets sucked into some sort of Magical world, however as soon as the adventure starts the main villain starts their conquest of controlling the magic. (Voldemort wants to control wizard magic Khattum-Shud wants to control story magic) During the story the main characters befriend members of this magical community, and at the end of the book the villain dies in an embarrassing way (Voldemort to the disarming spell and Khattum-Shud crushed by a giant head)
