In Sherry Turkle's Tedtalk, I realize that the technology has a very wide idea. Every people has their own way of understanding its meaning. We use technology to accomplish every various task in our daily life. We use technology to extend our abilities, we apply it in almost everything we do in our daily lives. We use technology at school, work, for communication, transportation, learning, and so much more. It gives deep intuitive understanding into the effects of technology on people today and also to the future generations.
Sherry Turkle also give point that we are letting technology take us in places that we don't want to go and it is psychologically powerful that they don't only change what we do, they also change who we are. We really are expecting more from technology and less from each other. We as a society have begun to lean on technology and immerse ourselves into the life of being connected rather than to have a face to face conversation which is much more genuine and real. Our social disconnection is increasing and we are letting it happen. We are really getting used to a new way of being alone together. We are being dependent in using technology, we don't even think that technology produces a form of creative laziness.
Technology is unstoppable, we are starting to see that it powerfully enables the darker aspects of human nature, including the tendency to self-obsession and making other people wrong. If society continues down this path, of trusting technology over real human experiences, the future does not look bright. Listening and conversation are essential for civil society to exist. We should value social interaction because it is important for us to have a feeling of acceptance, have the possibility for friendship, to help increase self-esteem. to have access to social support that we need, and many more.
