Age of Exploration and Age of Colonization

The work example I used for this topic was "The Daily News; The Adventures of Christopher Columbus." In the project I was a sailor on the Santa Maria and I talked about my adventures at sea with Christopher Columbus as the captain. I thought I did pretty good on the project- and so did Mr. Millhoff.
In this project I learned about Christopher Columbus- and what it was like being on his boat. I learned that everything was different during this time and they had nothing that we have today.
The human right that was granted in the project was #6. This human right states," You have rights no matter where you go." For Christopher Columbus he traveled the world- and if he didn't have this right he wouldn't be treated equally and fairly.
Still today people sail around the world and they need this right to be treated fairly.

Age of Reason and Age of Revolution

The work example I used for this topic was "The French Revolution" In this project I explained how the revolution started and what happened. This project was difficult to make for me- but in the end it turned out pretty good and I got a good grade on it.
In this project I learned about the French Revolution. I learned about how the France suffered from taxes, and shortages of food and money. Also the First and Second estate were wealthy while the Third estate was not- and eventually the Third estate left.
The human right that was denied during this time was #21, "The Right To Democracy." During the time people weren't allowed to participate in the government- or give there say on what the country should do. The right was finally granted when the government gave up on trying to stop the revolution- and the people were finally able to take part in their government.
Still today people want to take part in their government and if this right was still denied they wouldn't be able to.

Gilded Age and World War I

The work example I used for this topic was "The Consequences of Child Labor" In this project I talked about the Consequences of Child Labor and the problems and outcomes. I took a lot of time on this project and I tried my best. In the end I thought I did really good- and so did Mr. Millhoff because got a 100%.
In this project I learned about how bad child labor has gotten and how many kids were forced into it during the 1800's. I also learned that kids were very young but were forced to work till they dropped- and weren't fed enough to keep them going for a while.
The human right that was denied during this time was #24, "We all have the right to rest from work and relax." Children were worked from sunrise to sunset with barely any food- or rest- to keep them going. Some workers were only 5 but were still forced to work- which was a huge hazard. If we didn't have this right today a lot more kids would be forced to work in horrible conditions and could be dying left and right.
Still today people are using young children to work- but the rates have dropped, but if this right was still denied today a lot more children would be dying.

World War II, New Nations, and the Cold War

The work example I used for this topic was "The Red Scare" In this project I explained what happened, how it affected the social and government conflicts, and why it was a open crisis. I thought I did pretty good on this project and so did Mr. Millhoff.
In this project I learned that the Red Scare affected the social and government conflicts. Also The' Red Scare' took place in late 1940's and the climate of fear and repression linked to the Red Scare finally began to ease by the late 1950's. So, during the Red Scare many people were forced to convert to communism and this event happened during the Cold War.

A human right that was denied during the Red Scare was #3. This human right states," The right to life". The reason why this human right was denied was because during the Red scare people were forced to change beliefs or be killed for what they chose to do and the right states that you should be free to live and grow.
If we didn't have this right people would still be forced to change there belif- and if they didn't they would be killed. We need this right today because we should all be able to believe what we want without deathly consequences.

At the beginning of the year, I believed "JUST" to mean an ideal or just community is a community where everyone respects human rights and where everyone is treated fairly and equally. Human rights are the rights you get by being human.

Where you live should not affect weather or not your rights are respected. You should have rights no matter where you go.

There are some barriers to human rights- even though there shouldn't be. For example a few decades ago women weren’t able to go to school- and black were treated differently from whites.

Marther Luther King Jr fought for racial equality and in the end- he won.

I can abide by social contracts by going by the rules and not breaking my promise to be the things that are written on the board.

Now at the end of the year, my thinking has slightly changed. Now I believe "JUST" to mean a place where everyone is treated the same- and no one is treated different for there race, gender, etc.
