A group of people from the university of southern Illinois did tests on people in nursing homes. They wanted to find if happiness increased with the amount of time you spent gambling. They gave them tablets with digital casinos installed and let them play for 5 minute, 10 minute, and 30 minute periods. They detected happiness based on the amount of smiles, giggles, etc. They detected happiness based on the amount of crying, frowns, etc. The experiment showed that the amount of time spent gambling didn't increase happiness. One of the only factors that actually raised the subjects happiness was winning money.

This is a study about the relation between someone's happiness and the strength of their gambling addiction. The experiment started by taking the participants happiness and then seeing how that affected happiness while gambling. They use two scales to categorize gambling disorders, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and Problem Gambling Severity Index. Higher scores gave the participants spikes in happiness but it soon returned to baseline happiness. The data displayed a person's happiness inversely correlated with their level of gambling addiction. The results from this study showed that gambling had little effect on overall happiness because the dopamine high they gained from winning never lasted very long.

When gambling your dopamine levels are very high, and this is very bad for people with depression because their brain will rely on gambling as a coping mechanism. Gambling is a very short form of happiness which means that in order to sustain it you will need to keep gambling. After your done gambling you lose the dopamine high and you will drop to a deficit, which can cause anxiety and depression. The main reason gambling is dangerous is because it is so easy to do you don't have to be a gambling junkie to get stuck, you could just be bored.

They use the PGSI and DSM-IV scales to examine gambling problems. While PGSI separates non-problem, low, moderate, and problem gamblers, DSM-IV classifies abstainers, social, at-risk, and pathological gamblers. Lower happiness is correlated with higher degrees of gambling disease. Higher disorder levels are correlated with lower happiness, according to ordered probit models. Changes in gambling behavior have a substantial effect on wellbeing and mental health. A constant study shows a correlation between higher scores for gambling disorders and worse happiness. This is why casinos use smiling and happy people in their advertisements because it tricks people into a false sense of reality.

This website tries to show the benefits of gambling, which are sometimes disregarded because of worries about addiction. It draws attention to many types of entertainment options offered by online casinos, stressing stress relief, social anxiety relief, and distraction. The plus is that the online casinos offer cheap gaming experiences which are made possible by access to multiple online platforms. The connection between gambling, amusement and stress is the need for responsible gaming, kind of like when playing video games on a computer. Risk assessment in the context of gambling promotes emotional and financial restraint, which is a reflection of larger life skills.

Knowledge of brain chemicals such as cortisol, serotonin, and dopamine helps explain addiction and mental health. Serotonin provides contentment, but dopamine produces enthusiasm. It is easy to mix up these emotions, which can cause an endless search for highs, which is made worse by the way cortisol affects impulsive behavior. While too much dopamine can lead to addiction, prolonged stress lowers serotonin, which causes depression. Happiness (long term) is different from pleasure (immediate), which prioritizes real experiences over transient pleasures. Fighting gambling addiction involves increasing serotonin and decreasing cortisol and dopamine. Making decisions for long-term health can be influenced by knowledge about these substances.

This explains how quitting gambling is vital for health and happiness. The gambling problem has increased due to the digital age, due to the increase in lonely and upsetting lives. They say that gambling makes people happy is untrue, it really causes pain and negatively affects both mental and physical health. Problem gamblers have higher divorce and suicide rates. Gambling numbs ordinary delight by changing the chemistry of the brain. Your brain uses it as an escape that it hasn't earned. This company helps people with debts related to gambling and they have a youtube channel that also helps families with debt.
