Green lifestyle apparently affects people's choices when buying something. Consumers today avoid goods that in the process of manufacture or distribution damage the environment. As a result, many companies are trying to become more environmentally friendly brands. One of them is Nike and Samsung with continuous efforts so as not to produce excessive waste and this is a social responsibility for them.

Starting from Nike, this brand's latest step is quite unique, namely repairing used sneakers for resale. The more people care about the Earth, this move has the potential to become a lifestyle for the future. The sustainable program initiated by Nike is titled "Nike Refurbished". In this program, Nike “extends” the service life of used sneakers that still look decent, so they can be reused. The process of rejuvenating or reconditioning Nike sneakers is done by hand. Then, the brand will resell the sneaker to consumers at outlets, Nike Unite, and Nike community stores at lower prices.

Consumers only need to return the shoes to Nike. Later, the used shoes will be examined and assessed by experts at the company. Each eligible shoe is cleaned and sterilized and brought back to various Nike stores at a discount. If the experts at Nike see used sneakers as unfit for display on store shelves, then those sneakers become part of the Nike Grind. At Nike Grind, sneakers are recycled and used as artificial turf, mattresses, or new recycled shoes. All refurbished Nike shoes are cleaned and sterilized before to display on store shelves. The brand applies a three-tier rating system to determine the condition of the shoes before they are sold

Likewise with Samsung, Samsung compensates for losses caused to employees, as well as repairs damage caused to the environment, concerns are still lingering about long-term viability. The case studies will highlight the environmental initiatives taken by Samsung. It will also analyze the impact of this initiative and assess the sustainability of the activity.

CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Corporate environmental sustainability practices have become well known in the business world since the concept of sustainable development grew. The constant pressure on environmental protection continues to increase and forces companies to implement a number of measures and technologies to minimize and control pollution and increase ecological effectiveness. From research, practitioners develop several approaches to achieve corporate environmental sustainability. Approaches include eco-efficiency, triple bottom line, natural step, ecological footprint and carbon footprint, eco-effectiveness, and cradle-to-cradle design. Analysts observe that this framework provides guidelines for reducing the ecological damage caused by companies.
