The morning I went to that bridge the weather was cloudy and there was a light fog obscuring and refracting the sunlight. The weather was beautiful and really fit the aesthetic of Copenhagen. That particular spot, where the bridge is, is also very distinguished and it is and extremely pretty space. That's where I would take someone first if I were showing them around the city.

Unfortunately, I don't have a bike, but I was still able to walk on the cirkelbroen bridge. It was cool to see the wide range of uses for the bridge. People were biking, walking, and also just chatting or taking photos. The weather was very nice when I crossed the bridge, so it was a very pleasant experience. However, I can imagine that if I was actually biking, it would be a slightly annoying bridge to cross if there were a lot of people because there wasn't a straight path over the bridge -- the only path was winding over the bridge with some poles in the way. It seems that the architecture was more intended for artistic beauty, rather than functionality.

Today I biked across Inderhavnsbroen, which is located by Nyhavn. Behind me to the left is the Royal Danish Playhouse, a performing arts center that sits along the waterfront. As is the case for many of the newer projects on the harbor, the Playhouse is characterized by a modern, glass-heavy design, which offers a striking contrast to the traditional Copenhagen architectural style that can be seen just around the corner at Nyhavn. This ability to experience both “new” and “old” Copenhagen while crossing Inderhavnsbroen was something that I found to be really cool, and it wasn’t just limited to Nyhavn and the Playhouse. Crossing from the Nyhavn side, if you look to your left, you are met with the bold and innovative designs that embody the “new” Copenhagen — structures like the Royal Danish Opera House and the soon-to-be-completed apartments at Paper Island. On the other hand, if you look to your right, you take a step into Copenhagen’s past, with the same red roofs and spires that you can find all over the city. That said, you are sure to be met with stunning views any direction you are looking at as you cross Inderhavnsbroen. With the sun shining and the beautiful architecture all around me, I was reminded of just one of the reasons why Copenhagen is considered to be one of the happiest cities in the world.

It was nice to bike across Cykelslangen to get away from the pedestrians, cars, and traffic lights. I think that having cycle-only bridges encourages more cyclers because it expedites the journey across the city without having to worry about traffic.

Today I biked across Lille Langebro, which was about a 20 minute bike ride from where I live in Amager. This was actually my first time biking in Copenhagen at all. I really enjoyed it and thought it was super easy, especially since there weren't a lot of people on the streets at the time that I was out and it was a very nice morning. I went to Oslo, Norway last week and tried biking there which was actually very difficult and kind of scary because of how little infrastructure for biking there is within the city (and how much the elevation changes as you go). Needless to say I enjoyed this bike ride a whole lot more and am very happy to have done it. It's also a big plus that the view from the bridge overlooking the canal is incredible.

A few others were like myself and taking pictures as they walked across. I recently went to the Black Diamond Library and saw this bridge from there, so it was fun for me to see it from the other side. I do not bike in Copenhagen, but did enjoy people watching as others did. I think it's a really beautiful scene by the canal, watching all the people bike, walk, and boat.

I rode my bike across Cykelslangen with a friend and I must say the view off the bridge was amazing. Part of the bridge snakes around buildings, which is a really interesting design. Another part of it goes across the harbor. The part that goes across the harbor allows you to see all the interesting architecture of Copenhagen right by the waterside. There were also specific lanes for bikes and lanes for people that were walking which were really efficient. This day I also rode my bike all the way from my homestay to the city for the first time, which took around 40 minutes, and I must say that the roads where really bike friendly.

This bridge is almost directly at my Kollegium so I bike on it every day. It is really cool how successful the bridge in keeping both the pedestrians and the bikers safe. This is one of my favorite bridges to bike across as the look of it is super cool. It follows a curved shape thats super industrial looking. Sometimes the bridge will open to let in a large boat. It happens rarely but when it does people always take videos and photos, admiring the way the bridge splits. I'll admit, it can be a bit frustrating because the bridge can take up to 10 minutes to close up again. Other than that, I love this bridge and I love living near it as I feel I am sort of in between neighborhoods:)

I've walked across this bridge many times before since it's on the way to the closest grocery store to my dorm. I've gotten the chance to bike across it several times since I got my rental bike. The bridge's design is very practical, especially compared to other biking bridges I've seen. It was raining and super windy, but people were still pushing through on Lille Langbro. Cirkelbroen was less busy, only one biker and three people taking photos were there. I found that our conversation about practicality vs aesthetics was super applicable, and when it comes down to it, the practical option will most likely still be used, whereas the aesthetic just exists for the pretty picture. Cirkelbroen also feels a lot smaller than it looks in photos. Lastly, I realized that flat paved paths exist more for biker than pedestrian comfort. I wonder if the original cobblestone aesthetic would have been untouched, had biking not become so prevalent.

It's definitely important to be careful with the bikers when entering and exiting the bridge, but I've learned to always be mindful of that in this city. I also noticed that there were three people in orange jackets sitting next to the entrance counting the number of pedestrians and bikers on the bridge.
