Eurystheus' 12 tasks

Hercules' cousin, Eurystheus, asked him to do 12 tasks for him. These tasks included; killing the Nemean Lion, killing the Lernaean Hydra, capturing the Ceryneian Hind, capturing the Erymanthian Boar, cleaning the stables of Augeas in one day, killing the Stymphalian Birds, capturing the Cretan Bull, stealing the Mares of Diomedes, stealing the girdle of the queen of the Amazons, stealing the cattle of the monster Geryon, stealing the Hesperidean Apple, and to capture Cerberus, guardian of the Underworld.

Hera's curse on Hercules

After Hercules married Megra and they had kids, Hera becomes extremely jealous of their happiness. She then curses Hercules to go mad, in turn making him kill his wife and kids. He then goes to work for his cousin, Eurystheus for twelve years in hopes to purify himself. This then leads to the story of Eurystheus' twelve tasks.
