False Hope

Evidence: "Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance, by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?"(Henry 54-55).
Explanation: A sense of false hope was the driving force for the colonies to prepare for war with Great Britain. Hope was mentioned throughout the speech as almost a security blanket for the colonist to use in denial of the war brewing.
