Collective Worship Reflection – The Power of Our Voice

This week in Collective Worship, we explored an important change happening in the UK: schools will soon be expected to teach more about democracy, how voting works, and how our country is run. This change comes as the voting age for the general election is being lowered to 16.

This led to some thoughtful and inspiring discussions among the children. Together, we reflected on how The Bible encourages us to be brave, to speak out with kindness, and to stand up for what is right. Just as we are taught to use our voices to share love, justice and truth, the right to vote reminds us that every voice matters - even when we're young.

We were reminded that when we have positive messages to share, we must not give up. Whether it’s standing up for a friend, making a difference in our community, or one day voting for the kind of world we want to live in - our voices can be used for good.

What a fantastic (and very busy!) week we’ve had in school!

Firstly, a huge congratulations to our newly appointed Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl and Prefects. The selection process was incredibly tough, with so many strong candidates and we are so proud of everyone who put themselves forward. We know our new pupil leaders will represent the school brilliantly this year.

Year 6 also had the opportunity to attend a Taster Session at Westleigh High School, which gave them a real insight into secondary life. They came back buzzing with excitement and full of stories about their experience.

Across the school, there has been some truly amazing learning taking place - from creative writing to hands-on science and everything in between. It’s been wonderful to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic. It’s also been lovely to enjoy a bit of nicer weather this week - it definitely lifts everyone’s spirits!

Looking ahead, we have another busy week planned. On Wednesday, we’re welcoming families of children potentially joining us next academic year for our Reception Open Afternoon. This will be followed by our Reception Open Morning on Thursday. Then, to end the week on a high, Year 2 will be enjoying a Reading Breakfast on Friday.
