Beneatha displays that she is ambitious.
“Get over it? What are you talking about, Ruth? Listen, I’m going to be a doctor. I’m not worried about who I’m going to marry yet – IF I ever get married.” Pg.38
This quote shows that Beneatha is ambitious because she in the quote she sounds like she knows what she wants. Beneatha is telling Ruth that she is not worried about getting married yet. She is trying to become a doctor and have a career of her own. She doesn't even know if she wants to get married because then it might hold her back from being a doctor which makes her ambitious.

Post 2~ Character~ Beneatha, Character Trait~ Self assured

Beneatha also displays that she has self-assurance
But first I’m going to be a doctor, and George, for one, still thinks that’s pretty funny. I couldn’t be bothered with that. I’m going to be a doctor and everybody around here better understand that!” p. 50
This quote reveals that Beneatha is positive that she will become a doctor. Beneatha does not care if George doesn't believe in her or her dream of having a career as a doctor. She is sure of herself that is going to be a doctor and wants everyone to know that she will be one no matter what. She says but first she will be a doctor, that means that is her top priority and is sure she will become one.

Throughout the whole story I always liked Beneatha and her personality.She might be a have some imperfections, but she always says what is on her mind and didn't care because that's the way she felt. She is also confident in herself and in her abilities. Confident her self because she tried something new with her hair and didn't care what George is going to say. Then she wants to pursue with being a doctor and won't let anyone stop her, she has her mind made up and she knows what she wants. I admire that the most about Beneatha.

This piece of artwork she trying to display a brave woman. Lion's are one of the main symbols used as a sign of bravery because lion are brave and not scared of anything.Then the vivid colors suggest that she has many different ways of being brave or different. Beneatha is like this because she is brave enough to become a colored female doctor which back then was unheard of. So she has enough bravery and confidence in her to accomplish this.

When you’re up against a trouble,
Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it’s vain to try to dodge it,
Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
See it through!
This poem is saying that no matter what tries to knock you knock you stand up for yourself and keep pushing through. It is also saying that if it looks like your not going to win or succeed, keep pushing through and be proud that you are pushing through whatever bump in the road appears in your life. Beneatha displays this in the plat "A Raisin in the Sun" mostly every says that she can't be a doctor and that she is supposed to be a house wife, but she ignores them because she wants her own career and follow her own dreams.

Source: https://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/see-it-through-by-edgar-guest

The song Superwoman by Alicia Keys links to Beneatha because its about women fighting for better days and how women are always underestimated by their abilities. Men always get the credit while we are in the shadows. Beneatha portrays that because she says throughout the story that she is becoming a doctor she does not care what George has to say about it.

In both plays "A Raisin in the Sun" and "Fences" some of the things portrayed in the plays made up the theme. The theme of "A Raisin in the Sun" is about how race is always an issue. A similar theme is in the play "Fences". Back in those times race was always an issue when colored people tried to do different things. For instance in "A Raisin in the Sun" the Younger family is trying to move into a better neighborhood, but it is a white neighborhood. They are offered money to not move there because the community thought that they would bring problems with them.

In the play "Fences" Troy's son wants to become a football player, but his father wouldn't allow it because he would be playing for the white man and he wouldn't get far with it because he is a colored person. In both plays people are trying to hold the characters back because they are colored people. Troy with his son and the community with the Younger family. Both the themes have something to do with struggling to be a colored person.
