What influences did those books have on their lives?

• Each of the books that I have read growing up has taught me a type of lesson or new perspective of things.  Some of the books I remember my parents reading to me were read before I went to bed.  These books taught educational lessons, respect, and helped me wind down when I was younger.  As I moved into grade school I remember reading books with my older siblings.  These books seemed to be more imaginary books that broadened my imagination.  In high school I was introduced to poetry books along with more mature readings that put me in possible real life situations through the readings.  I am still in college now, and I feel that I am getting more into mystery books now that I am older and they influence me to continue reading.

Did the books agree or disagree with students' ideologies?

• I believe that this book could go against students' ideologies. This book tells a story about a cat that acts as a Chihuahua because of the way he looks and he also has imaginary Chihuahua friends and they speak in a language that is like Spanish, but it is not completely correct.

Did they find themselves "resisting" the text or agreeing with it?

• I could see students resisting the text due to a language being new to their vocabulary. This is also a topic that could cause Spanish speaking families to become offended by vocabulary that isn't correct in the Spanish Language.

How should teachers address possible conflicting ideologies in the classroom?

• I think that teachers could address conflicting ideologies by having children give their own opinions about stories and to try to stay away from stories that could be offensive to some. If teachers run into something being offensive to a student they should listen to the student and come up with a solution or explain to them that the book could have a different meaning to it than what they are understanding. Each child is different and will interpret stories differently. It is important that the teacher listens and understands each child's perspective and accepts their opinions on things.

How did your literary journey timeline shape this ideology?

• I believe that the books I read and listened to as a child played a part in my ideology. My parents and siblings read books to me about life lessons, learning, and adventure. I grew up knowing these ideas and I feel like as I continue my reading journey as an adult I am still finding books with the same type of ideas. I think that the ideology that I have created will not change as I get older. As I continue my learning and go into the field of Special Education, I plan to teach and help children through life lessons, their learning journey, and keep their minds open to fulfill their own adventures.
