Candidiasis is an infection that can live on the skin and inside the body such as the mouth, throat, gut and vagina. It is caused by a yeast (a type of fungus) called Candida. If conditions change inside the vagina encouraging the growth of Candida, it can cause an infection. Infection becomes more likely with things like hormones, medicines, or changes in the immune system.

An antifungal medicine is used to treat Vaginal Candidiasis. The treatment is usually an antifungal medicine applied inside the vagina or a single dose of fluconazole taken by mouth.
