Gatsby's parties are extravagant, glamorous and full of life. The parties were like stepping into a whole new world filled with glitz and glamour. The atmosphere was always buzzing with excitement, and you never knew what surprises the night would bring. I wanted to display this through a piece of text evidence I have found "I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby’s house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited—they went there. . . . Sometimes they came and went without having met Gatsby at all, came for the party with a simplicity of heart that was its own ticket of admission"(Fitzgerald 29).

I put together a playlist of songs that I think Daisy would listen to or relate to. Daisy might find herself drawn to sad love songs over Gatsby because they echo the bittersweet nature of her own love story. The longing lyrics resonate with her deep, unresolved feelings she harbors for Gatsby. These songs could serve as a reflection of the love they shared and the pain of what could have been, a secret that's tucked away beneath the surface of her seemingly perfect life. "I did love him once—but I loved you too" (Fitzgerald 133).

The Pursuit of Happiness movie is a film that came out in 2006. It focuses around the life of Chris Gardner who was a homeless man striving for the American Dream. Gardener faced many difficult challenges during his life such as financial struggles, homelessness and personal setbacks. In the great Gatsby a quote that symbolizes the American dream is [H]e stretched out his arms toward the dark water. . . . I . . . distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far way. . . . When I looked once more for Gatsby he had vanished. . . . (Fitzgerald 21).

Tom Buchanan has a reputation for his abusive and harassing behavior. He exerts his power through physical and emotional intimidation, not only towards his wife, Daisy, but also towards others in his social circle. His affair with Myrtle Wilson is marked by violence, and his confrontational nature leads to tension and conflict. Tom's aggressiveness and entitlement are central to his character. Adding onto his reputation of abusive and harassing behavior, Tom also quickly pointed the finger at Jay Gatsby after the tragic death of Myrtle Wilson. Despite knowing the truth, Tom manipulated the situation to his advantage, letting Gatsby take the fall for Myrtle's death, which was actually caused by Daisy's careless driving. Tom's accusation steered the suspicion away from his own circle, showcasing his tendency to protect his interests at any cost, even if it meant sacrificing Gatsby. "'He killed her,'" said Tom, accusingly. 'It was Gatsby. He ran over Myrtle like you'd run over a dog and never even stopped his car.'"(Fitzgerald 178).

The idea behind the genres I chose were to explain the key ideas of the book in a fun and creative way. My project highlights the characters Gatsby, Daisy and Tom Buchanan. I wanted to highlight different kinds of media that wasn't around in the 1920s. Through movies, music playlist and by using Canva I was able to explore the ideas of The Great Gatsby. My project reflects on the American dream, love, hope and death.
