OBJECTIVES

• Support for Alternatives: A 30% increase in businesses and communities adopting sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics.

• Improved Waste Management: Implementation of better waste management practices in cities and rural areas, with a focus on recycling and composting.

4. Activities:

1. Research and Data Collection:

   • Conduct a study on the current state of plastic pollution in Ghana.

   • Compile statistics on plastic waste generation, environmental damage, and economic costs associated with plastic pollution.

2. Public Awareness Campaigns:

   • Organize radio and TV campaigns to highlight the dangers of single-use plastics.

   • Create informative materials (posters, infographics, and social media posts) about plastic pollution and its alternatives.

   • Organize school programs, workshops, and seminars to educate youth and local communities about the environmental impacts of plastics.

3. Engage with Policy Makers:

   • Hold meetings with government representatives, MPs, and relevant ministries (e.g., Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation).

   • Provide policy briefs and evidence-based reports on the benefits of banning single-use plastics.

   • Advocate for the inclusion of the ban in the national waste management and environmental protection policies.

4. Build Coalition:

   • Convene a series of meetings with local NGOs, environmental activists, and business leaders to form a broad coalition.

   • Organize joint campaigns, petitions, and lobbying efforts to garner wide support for the ban.
