How did Segregation in the past impact community today? What do we still see today that is either simailar or different than how it was in education during the 1940s?

Because of segregation in the past, people feel more comfortable with people of their own backgrounds because they may fear racism or discrimination from other groups, especially since, when segregation was supposed to end, people were killed and harmed simply for being different. I think one key piece of segregation that still impacts communities is red lining. The division of people based on their skin color or economic status is something that can become generational which makes it really hard to change.

We still experience segregation today, especially when it comes to poverty. Because of past racial inequalities, it set up this system that now has minority neighborhoods. It even reflects on house pricings.

I think segregation in the past impacts the common stereotypes that are set in communities today. These stereotypes are usually passed from generations through how parents influence their kids, etc. We still see cliques based on race similar to today. People are more likely to connect with and be around people who are similar to them whether that be their background or skin color etc
