born lee donghyuck to lee changjun and seo aerin on the 6th of june 2001, in seoul, south korea. he is a second year premed student at saebom university. a scholar who comes from a lower middle class family made up of three people: his father being an elementary school teacher, his mother a housewife, and him as their only child. being the sole child did not bother donghyuck as he grew up having close ties to his parents and multiple friends. he was a jovial, free spirited kid, always looking to make the people around him laugh and smile, earning the nickname "haechan" from his father. "hae" meaning sun and "chan" meaning full. full of brightness. although he had many nicknames ranging from haechan, chan, haech, hyuck to dongdong, he would grow up preferring to be called haechan or the shortened version of his name; hyuck.

hyuck spent his childhood years the same way any other kid normally would. he went to school, made friends and played hooky; oftentimes going to play with friends in the courtyard of his school rather than attend his classes. haechan hit puberty late, at around eighth grade but he supposes this is because he skipped seventh grade and went straight to eighth. haechan is innately a bright kid, quickly grasping concepts with no more than a single explanation and analyzing details with quick intuition. due to this his, teachers thought he was meant to start learning more advanced stuff. for some reason this advancement translated as "doctor" to his parents though because as soon as they heard the news the began using all sorts of tricks to persuade him into taking up medicine—

unfortunately it worked because he's now two years deep in suffering, almost ready to tap out. however, it's not like his parent's didn't give him a choice, they were open to him pursuing any field but then again haechan never really showed interest in anything, didn't really look into anything too. so technically, he wasn't forced. he's suffering under his own free will but he doesn't like admitting it to himself so he keeps it to himself, his pride not allowing him to admit he would rather switch courses.

haechan retained his bubbly personality from childhood but now it's only reserved towards people he's close to. he's cordial to whoever he meets, oftentimes reciprocating the type of energy they give him. he cherry picks his crowd based on his mood for the day or time period, coming off as aloof or distant with people he's not really keen on conversing with. he mostly prefers spending his hours alone in his room, playing whatever game that catches his attention or watching youtube/tiktok videos on his phone. when it's exam period he'll usually be at the library or cafe desperately trying to cram last minute knowledge in his brain. some days he'll be out and about trying to explore new places or meet with friends. he's needy and touchy. preferring to show an abundance of skinship with the people (read: friends) he feels comfortable with; draping his arm around a shoulder, resting his palm on a thigh or looping his fingers through the belt loops are his go to whenever he's with any of his friends. he also prefers studying with one or two other people rather than alone because he likes taking breaks to refresh and chattering away is how he relieves his stress. he can be quite secretive and elusive as a stranger but as a friend he's louder and more laidback.
