Hey all! Our lives have pulled all of us in several different directions this week. So let's collaborate on Padlet! I've created a few windows (see below) and given you all Moderator privileges so you can add your comments in the windows that I've created below.

Please read each prompt and then double tap on the box to add your own comments. Start your comment off with your CPS username.

Example: I would start "njcampbell1 - I think....blah blah blah."

Please post an initial comment in all three boxes below. Then check back 24-48 hours later to see what other comments your colleagues have posted. I hope we can get some consensus on the topics below by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 29th.

Thanks!

jmdilorenzo sound good

Campbell's Observations

Prompt: I perform 15 minutes (quick) observations in all of your classes through the week. I purposely do not structure my feedback in the Danielson model. I believe that you get sufficiently inundated by all-things-Danielson from other sources. Instead, I use a more casual Praise/Question/Suggestion format. Then I immediately share my observation notes with you via Evernote. For those of you who I've observed, please give me some insights on the Praise/Question/Suggestion format. Some questions you could respond to are: Do you find it meaningful? Do you find it helpful? Do you find it vague? Why?

jmdilorenzo my 6th period is using the iPads as their dissecting guide darn to come in? you are all welcome will out on Friday for FT but will be using them on Tuesday, and Wed next week.

dtfinkle, So far your input on my classroom and prep work has been very beneficial. I have felt it was like an art critique. Where someone has looked at my work to try and see the message I was trying to convey, looked for my strengths and my weaknesses and commented on both without making me feel judged. It has been positive

ldgiglio - The Praise/Question/Suggestion format worked well. It gave me ideas of new things to try.

lmcguire1- I have not been officially observed as of yet.

jldodson It was cool

Peer Observations

Prompt: One great way how we learn to be better in our craft is to see others in action. We get great ideas. We may garner some unique insights. We may even realized that we've been doing something wrong the entire time simply by seeing how someone else does something. In that spirit, I want you all to observe each other in a fashion similar to how I observe you all now: a short, unannounced observation where you leave your colleague some immediate feedback via Evernote. I am thinking of one 15-minute observation every two weeks, so that would be two 1-15-minute observations between now and the end of the year. (ATTENTION: our notes are shared among each other - the Admin is not apart of this process). What questions or concerns do you have about this?

jmdilorenzo hopefully can do one will try 2 but need a calendar or something to know who to go to.

dtfinkle I have observed both Dilo and Dodson so far. This has been purely to pick up tips on management and site usage for my own purposes, If you want observations in some more formal manner I am not opposed.

ldgiglio - I think this is a good idea. Can we add the room number to the matrix you set up? Also, how will we know if the teacher is using the iPads that day?

lmcguire1- I think this is a good idea. I would definitely want a schedule of classes that I can observe. Good point dgiglio- we do not use iPads every day, so could we jot down when we would like our class to be observed?

jldodson--Ditto to lmcquire1 and ldgiglio

Mentorship in iPads

Prompt: we will be expanding our cohort this summer/fall. We will devise our own timeline for this expansion, but expansion is inevitable. I proposed to Mrs. Aziz-Sims that we expand through mentorship. I am pushing for us to have multiple sessions of Apple Certified training and then we will coach up our mentees through collaboration sessions and PLAYDATEs. Right now can you think of anyone in your department or a colleague in another department who has expressed interest in using iPads? If no one has, could you think of a colleague who you think would be up to the task that you could see yourself supporting, coaching and mentoring? Please list names.

(ATTENTION: These names are nothing more than a brainstorm right now. Please refrain from telling anyone about this list. I have already put together a Google form for Mrs. Aziz-Sims to send out to the entire staff to solicit from people about their interest in joining our cohort.)

jmdilorenzo not sure

dtfinkle ditto, but I'll think about it. There are so many in our department already I will probably look outside of our department.

ldgiglio - I could see myself helping Mrs. Nelson.

lmcguire1- I will mentor anyone in the English department that would like to use iPads.

jldodson I don't know; maybe Ms. Parran
