When Danny says that he's not like Chin-Kee, he is referring to when everybody at his old school would only know him for being Chin-Kee's cousin. Some people at his old schools might've bullied him because of how Chin-Kee acts. When Melanie and Danny are talking, he's trying to get his point across that he isn't like his cousin. Melanie says that it doesn't have anything to do with that. When Danny says he's nothing like him after Melanie said that, this same thing probably happened in the past at his old schools. Where they would assume that Danny was like Chin-Kee. Danny feels embarressed around Chin-Kee cause he's different. This is only caused because of Chin´s actions when he joins Danny at school. Due to this everyone knowing that he is Dannys cousin, they picture him as Chin as Danny and Danny as Chin. So even when Melanie isn't even talking about that, and just wants to be friends with Danny, Danny overreacts and says that he isn't like Chin-kee, stating how he doesn't even know how they're related. He is embarrassed by it. And he hates it when he comes over. He hates it enough to where he would move schools every time chin kee would go to his school.
2. I think just by the way he speaks on page 123, it is making him very angry that this is happening to him again. But it also has made him feel other emotions.
Danny says that he doesn't know how they are cousins. So they might be cousins. But Danny is trying so hard to make himself feel better by saying they are not cousens. Even if it's not true. He hates him. And gets embarrassed by him

I think that he tries to make it super clear that he and chin-kee are just cousins because he doesn't want to be seen as more than that, he wants to make sure Melanie knows that they're not like each other at all.
