Persephone would take care of the flowers for her. Hades also fancied her so one day he took action. He put a new beautiful plant away from Demeter's view. Persephone than fell for his trap and He took her into the underworld. Once Demeter found out about this she went to Zeus, who had always had a soft spot for her, to plead her case. There Is a rule in the underworld. Once you eat the food there you can never come back to earth. Hades had tried to feed her food, give her gifts, and even patiently listened to her rant about how she wanted to go back to earth and hated Hades. Eventually she ate 6 pomegranate seeds when she thought nobody was looking. When she returned to the castle Hermes had arrived and was sent by Zeus to retrieve her. Once she was back with her mother, Hades had already told Zeus that Persephone had eaten 6 seeds.
