Today, we had the General Orientation on Experiential Learning for Field Studies and Practice Teachers. The program started out late as expected from the prescribed time. We were also instructed to rename based on our course being taken as for me I had PT_Joevilyn since this Term 2 we will be having the Off Campus. As soon as the program started from the preliminaries such as prayers and opening remarks by Dr. Darryl Roy Montebon also discussed a quick talk for the event. After the talk, we were assigned to two breakout rooms, one for the FS and another one for the PT. We waited in the breakout room for Prof. Victoria Delos Santos, she talked about the most important things about our Practice Teaching, mostly on the description of the course, requirements of the course and all other important information such as the requirements for the deployment, the uniforms, the commitment letter for those who will be working and the schools we will be deployed with. We are also given the schedule for the next coming week for the Patnuro until our Deployment to different schools. The grading system for this term was also discussed and our Cooperating Teacher really has a significant role in rating us based on our behavior, performance and the likes. After Prof. Delos Santos discussed everything, she already started answering queries from the students. This day gave me a realization that we are indeed closer to graduating because finally, we are doing this most significant part of our lives as pre-service teachers.Although, I am not emotionally and mentally ready at the moment because of some unwanted events in our family I will still be giving my best.

For the first day of Patnuro, we were gathered together via zoom for a general assembly and plenary as we are welcomed for this term’s course for field study and practice teaching. The associate deans per faculty delivered their messages for the pre-service teachers. For our first lecture for today’s session we listened to Dr. Jesusa L. Bulotano, principal from St. Joseph Parochial School. She discussed the Learning Programs of Catholic Schools. She delivered her discussion with the Learning Program of Clusters 5 & 6. As a Catholic school, she gave emphasis on the mission of catholic schools in developing a sense of truth of what is good and beautiful. We were able to understand better how they nurture students as an entire person in mind, body and spirit which will be necessary for a happy, healthy and balanced life. As for their curriculum, there is Flexible Teaching- Learning, they are also under HELP or the Home Education Learning Program with specific strategies such as RISE or Real time Instruction Support Engagement and SOAR or Self-directed Offline Activities and Resources. They are also following STEP for the School Transitional and Environmental Program and HOPE for Homeroom Encounters Parent’s Opportunity. Personally, I am not so surprised about learning about these sets of acronyms because although they are new for me I can still relate it with the general knowledge that we have for the curriculum. As a realization, I am focusing more on how I will integrate and improve the strategies and styles that I have already learned because there will be a different environment this time. I just keep in mind that in order for me to have a better experience for this is to always apply what I already know and to still continue adapting to new things.

The second day of the Patnuro directly started with separating the pre-service teachers into the respected breakout rooms. As I entered the room, we waited for the program to start and as it started, we directly had the 2nd lecture for the Patnuro, on topic Classroom Management in Online Classes discussed by Mr. Benedicto Pascual, principal from Espiritu Santo Parochial School for Junior High School. Based on his discussion, we don’t just want classroom management but we are aiming for an effective one because this is just a bare minimum for a good learning environment shared by the teacher and the students. Mr. Pascual discussed the three characteristics of an effective teacher, first focused on the positive expectation for students, second focused on knowing how to design lessons for mastery and lastly is an extremely good classroom manager. He actually reiterated that in a classroom, 75% would be about classroom management while the remaining 25% would be allotted for teaching. I would have to agree with this, because as I have also experienced, better learning experiences for students also depend on how the teacher manages the classroom. The third lecture was discussed by Ms. Elizabeth Pastor, Grade School Principal from Manila Cathedral School. She discussed the Proper Decorum in Online Teaching. There are a total of 21 key points she tackled and this is actually not new to me at all because I kept on hearing and seeing these rules that should be strictly followed by the teachers and students also. However, there should still be understanding as we implement these rules because certain events could be beyond our control that we should take into consideration. As a pre-service teacher, I clearly got the point of the two topics for today and it is just a must for me to be able to apply these into practice.

During the last day of the Patnuro there were two topics discussed to conclude the lecture series for Practice Teaching Orientation.. The first speaker was Dr. Montebon, director of PNU-ITL as he discussed Classroom Based Action Research. He defined what it is for and how it is supposed to be done. We also asked him about the clarification on how we will be doing the CBAR as practice teachers since we have already proposed a topic last term. We were answered vaguely but I am just hoping that there will be a better system in conducting this because this is really significant for us, practice teachers. The next topic we discussed was about Assessment in online learning as discussed by Ms. Jenny Lyn Chua Principal from Holy Child Catholic School. The discussion was divided into three major topics; first, What is Assessment in Education? Next, Consideration in giving online assessment and last was about Online assessment tools. Like the previous talks about this, assessment was defined and its different types also. From all the points discussed, we really focused on how we can consider assessment even if there is no assurance that the students will be taking them honestly because cheating has gone serious since the online learning has started. It is really challenging for teachers to make sure if the students will really be honest as they take assessments and other school requirements. Other than that we also discussed some of the applications that we can use for assessment during online learning.

Today, we went to PNU to get our uniforms for Practice Teaching. I really grabbed this opportunity because I also wanted to see my classmates because we haven't seen each other since the suspension of classes as the pandemic started. We were grateful that we will now be having a proper uniform because last term we really waited for this. Although, a bit sad because this is not the usual uniform that we have for PT. I really felt so emotional upon getting a hold of these things, when I took a picture of my pin, I reminisced the memories of me as a freshman student and how I made it to PNU. It brought me back to the days I was just praying to pass the PNUAT and now I am holding this pin as a sign that I am finally closer to reaching my dreams. I was happy and sad at the same time, happy because this is a milestone for me, sad that I will have to face a new challenging chapter of my life. Also, I missed my classmates so much that I would want to be with them face to face before graduation.

Today was a very quick meeting with all of the Practice Teachers because we only had the rehearsal for the Pinning Ceremony tomorrow. We had an overview on the program of the event and how each part will be delivered. Select students also demonstrated how the parts of the program will be done specifically on the pinning part and how each parent and students will be positioned for the zoom. There were also clarifications made on where the pin will be placed concerning the logo printed on the left part of the shirt. Also, it was reiterated that everyone should be early so that there will be no delays in the program. In my perspective, I can really say that the discipline we have developed since then shall be reflected in this program. During the practice I really felt so excited for the program because this only marks one significant milestone in my journey towards becoming a teacher. I am looking forward to the program that will really ignite my passion for teaching and looking back at how I have started to aspire in becoming a teacher is now coming true.

This day is one of the most memorable moments in my whole life. Although I did not imagine this to be happening in a virtual setting I am still grateful that this is really happening. It took so many breakdowns, small victories and all just to finally be doing this. As I attended with my mom it made me feel so emotional inside also. I am so happy to be doing this. I really prepared everything for this to finally happen. Wearing our uniform and seeing my co practice teachers seated with their parents really made me feel so happy. The program went really well. I was listening to the speakers and also to former practice teachers who shared their experiences which really inspired many of us. I almost turned so emotional while the actual pinning was on going because I know my mom is really proud of me. I also am so proud of my classmates, friends and to every practice teacher as well. I know that our journey was never easy as we now reach this point. This has reminded me again to always be hopeful and to keep my feet on the ground every time. I am truly inspired and I need this to reignite my burning passion for teaching.

Today we had our first meeting with our supervisor. Prior to the upcoming orientation before the deployment she already gave us reminders on what we should be expecting in this journey. She also gave us the list of requirements that we need to accomplish and also a calendar where we will update our schedules for observations. One of the concerns she raised was about us being deployed to Private Catholic Schools because this will be the first time that PNU will be emerged into these schools, given that we're still in a pandemic, this is the only way we can be deployed. So there were a lot of reminders provided for us because there is a big difference between public and private schools in terms of curriculum, implementation, classroom management, school culture and all. She also, guided us by provided as a copy of the different methodologies for teaching in Social Sciences as well as the strategies. We are grateful to be having these tools that we could definitely use in our practice.

This day has been very difficult for me because today is a weekend and there was an unexpected meeting that we are called for. I was worried because prior to this schedule I already accepted a freelance work so upon reading on the message, I tried to inform our supervisor about this and this has led to so many misunderstanding because she would not want to accept whatever I say about this. To my defense, I was just answering her questions, and I think she's too confused in my line of work. I was trying to inform her that I will ask permission from my client about rescheduling and then she immediately told me that I will not be deployed because she thought I was lying that I am working in a company under a contract. However, she did not understood it, so I was politely explaining myself. Unfortunately, as I was trying to explain myself she thought of it to be a disrespect. I have a clear intention about all of this and I think it is very unfair that she called me out in a zoom meeting in front of the whole FBeSS students as she also reiterated that this should be discussed privately but what she did on calling me out and cornering me was really unnecessary, I thought this should have been done privately but why would she call me out. My classmates knew how much I tried to explain myself. Right there and then she said that we should know who are we talking to, and as for me, I have never meant any harm in the messages I sent her. As a teacher, I know how important it is to know the side of my students without shaming them in front of everybody else. I think, she's wrong to say that we should learn how to shut up when we are at a lower position, because what if I am right all along? It's really heartbreaking that my intention to only ask for permission ended up that way. I promise myself, I will never ever do that to any of my student because personally, it caused me so much trauma. It was just about asking for permission that I may not be able to attend but she was inserting topics about her personal sacrifices. After all, I know how important it is to also be professional in not ending up with calling meetings unexpectedly most especially during weekends. By professionalism, we also consider that consequences of setting unexpected meetings on weekends, that the sacrifices she had to do may not be the same case for everybody else. I reached out to my supervisor and Associate Dean because I know that I don't have any bad intentions at all that's why I am strong enough to tell them about my truth.

Today we attended a webinar as we were invited by PNU ITL. The talk was about climate and disaster resilience. We attended. There was an invited international speaker that discussed about the comparisons of each country in terms of this topic. I thought of this as an opportunity to learn better about climate and as someone emerged in the field of Social Science. This contributes a big factor because we see this as one important factor in achieving a more cohesive society. This also opens me that in the Philippine context, we still have a lot to improve in terms of our disaster risk programs here in our country and this is very challenging also because throughout the history of the Philippines we have a lot of challenges about this because given the location of the country as an archipelago, we are very prone to different types of disasters. So, as teachers this would be one of the things that should be considered because this will also affect the educational sector if such things happen.

Today, we were in a meeting to have an orientation with our partner schools. We were deployed in Manila Cathedral School and we had an orientation with our assigned critic teachers. We were also informed about the school culture and about the facilities and everything about the school. After the general orientation, we transferred into breakout rooms as we were joined by the Araling Panlipunan Department. I was hoping to be assigned in the Senior High School Department however I was assigned to the grade level which I am not wanting at all. Unexpectedly, I was assigned to Grade 8 in which we will be teaching World History which is my weakness. But, eventually, I realized that this will be a great opportunity for me learn better in this field. This will also help me utilize the skills that I have as a pre-service teacher. I have accepted the challenge to teaching in Junior High School and to also be teaching this subject. Now, I am preparing myself to face this and hopefully I will be able to do my task in a way that my students will really learn from me.

Also, she shared with us some info about her classes and the behaviors among these sections.

For me, I can see that our CT has a light personality and such a good aura. It feels good that at the very beginning she's very willing to help us already by also allowing us to observe the classes first before having our teaching.

Later that afternoon, we scheduled a meeting with our Supervisor so we can finalize our schedule for the class observations.

I think one of the most important thing for us to do in order to have a successful Practice Teaching Journey is to be organized so that everything will be planned and structured well. This way, we can avoid mishaps and perform better.

This is the first day that we will be having our first class observation for the Grade 8 students in Manila Cathedral School. Apart from having the observation, we were also assigned to facilitate the Balitaan and the Motivation before the discussion proper.

The news was about the presidential debate we hope to be related with the class discussion about the roman empire and its emperors. Basically, it was focused on the leadership under politics. It was very challenging to have the class right after lunch because I know that the students will be very much sleepy that's why before I started the session, I had to engage them first.

Also, for the Balitaan session to be a success, I asked them questions that will be related to them as well in connection with the news they learned about.

For me, this type of activity is very helpful for them because it is important that they are aware of the current happenings in the society so they will be very much informed and they can also learn from these things.

For the first week, Paul and I were partners for teaching the first section.

We taught State, Nation, Nation-State and Globalization. At first, I was really nervous because this will be the first time I am handling SHS students.

One of the most memorable day in my Practice Teaching Journey. I was observed by our Supervising Instructor today and this has really put me to a test.

Last night, I was preparing everything, my lesson plan, presentation, I was also reading a lot. I slept late because I had a very little time to prepare. Honestly, it was already late when I learned that I will be observed, good thing was I am already preparing.

I had my schedule first thing in the morning so I woke up early and prepared. I set up my devices and checked my connection. Unfortunately, when it was about time for me to speak for the class, I got disconnected, good thing I had a back up connection. Right after I reconnected, I immediately started my class. In the middle of it, I was really nervous because I am not seeing my screen moving at the time, I was just continuing with my discussion.

I was able to finish my class on time but of course there were mishaps. I was just grateful to finish it despite the struggle I had to go through because of the internet connection.

I immediately checked the evaluation of my SI for my demo, and I cried realizing that I did great. It was challenging for me to teach in the class by seeing and handling them for the first time. I was also grateful for them for participating so well.

The comments and points for improvements were appreciated. I cried because for a very long time I am doing a lot of demo teaching this was the first time I received those comments, I felt really happy and inspired to do better.

In the afternoon, I had my post-conference with my CT and SI, I took note all of their comments and promised to improve those that I still need to work on while I continue to do my good points.

I realized that I am a good teacher, for the past months I've been thinking that I am not as good as others but now I know I can do better that I can before.

Following my demonstration teaching last Wednesday, today I'll be handling the same class to teach another important topic. I started my class on time and was able to have a smooth flow of it. I enjoyed the whole period as my students actively participated as well.

While I was confidently teaching my class I am feeling so happy that I am able to do it with an ease. I have gained so much inspiration from my previous demonstration teaching.

Honestly, I hate to admit it but World History is my weakness. I really fear standing in front of the class and teach this because I never had interest in it. But, this experience have taught me so many good things, now I am enjoying learning and teaching it.

I able to conquer and work on my fears and doubts. This has helped me gauge where I am at as a pre-service teacher. I am looking into a better future ahead of me. I realized how important it is to try new things that will be very useful for me in the future.

We started the week, with another topic for the Grade 8 students. From 8:00 am in the morning we were already in the zoom to observe our co-practice teachers. I was also listening with their discussion and I am also learning from them.

I was the last teacher to handle a class, and in a very unfortunate instance, I got disconnected from zoom, while I was trying to reconnect and change into data subscription, still I am having difficulty to connect.

My CT told me that it's fine that she handle the review for the class. I was really in dismay with this experience because I prepared a lot for this.

I have been experiencing so many difficulties mostly for a stable internet connection, while I try my best to be prepared and even have back ups there are really instances that I am unable to control everything.

As for what I have learned, I think there are really unexpected events that may happen and no matter how much we prepare and have back up plans, we have to accept what happened, learn from it and move forward.

We discussed about the Historical Development of Democracy in the Philippines.

Before, I really have a very little knowledge about this, but now, I was given an opportunity to look into this topic. I have learned it well this time. The team work that we did together with Teacher Cheys, Sha and Paul really helped us do this better.

I know that things may not always come easy, I always get intimidated with my class and I really am having some difficulties in dealing with a lot of things.

We had another mentoring session with our CT today. Our main agenda was to discuss our Classroom-Based Action Research (CBAR). First, we shared the plans that we have already discussed within the G8 Team. As we shared it, our CT was giving her insights about the things we shared. Later on, she started sharing also how they do CBAR in their school. She gave us tips also.

After that, she proceeded with reminding us on what we will expect next week since the students will have their examination. We also shared to our CT that we were already given schedule for our final demo so she then gave us another sets of reminders for our upcoming demo.

In the afternoon, I observed my classmate's class together with the other Grade 8 PTs. One thing that I observed was the number of students in the classroom. We did not reach at least 20 attendees and we're already part of the number. Also, I have noticed that the students were not actively participating even when called. It's very saddening to have seen a class that's inactive with less participation in class.

Compared to the class that we handle, there is a a big difference, I think there are also a lot of factors to take a look at here.

We were tasked to make test questionnaires for the upcoming examination of the students next week.

In Audrey's class under Grade 10, he taught a very sensitive topic, and one thing that I have observed was the hesitance of students to participate because of the topic being discussed about abuse. Although, the teacher was able to clearly discuss the concepts, the participation was still not that alive since students especially the girls may find it uncomfortable.

Also, I think it will be very much better if there were trigger warnings before proceeding with the actual discussion. Another thing, the grouping activity made on the last part was a ineffective because the activity was not successfully accomplished by some students.

One thing I learned from this class would be on the teacher's sensitivity on the topics being discussed. We cannot really avoid teaching such topics but we can also learn to be more sensitive and considerate on how our students might feel about the things we will say. This is very challenging but I think this can be overcome once we are more considerate of their feelings.

I had to observe another class today because the examination of the students have started. I attended Teacher Junjun's class with Grade 7 students.

Even before the class started, Teacher Junjun's CT already informed the class that Teacher Junjun was only connected to data because they had a power outage. That's why as he started teaching he had his camera off to preserve his data connection for internet. This was one of the most challenging part in his class.

The preliminary activities took a lot of his time, that could also be the reason why he had to transition into a faster phase.

Later in the afternoon, I also observed Teacher Cath's class with Grade 9 students. The students were also participative. I really love Teacher Cath's energy in teaching to the point that I almost wanted to participate in her class as well. Her pedagogy was indeed great.

Overall, I learned a lot from both of these teachers. I can see that they really have distinct strategies in terms of teaching. Seeing other teachers also help me learn more strategies in class also.

We had our homeroom advising with our class adviser Prof. Simeon. One by one, we shared our experiences from the Practice Teaching. I have shared my experiences also and my general insights and feelings about the practice teaching.

To share it here also, I have mentioned that I have no struggles in terms of gadgets because I have provided my gadgets for this, while I also struggle with internet connection that's why I had to prepare my back up internet connection. One main adjustment was when I had to leave my home because my room is not conducive for learning.

There were also sharing in terms of the CT and groupmates that's why I have shared that I am blessed with our CT who is very supportive, helpful and considerate. The support system that I have with my groupmates also help me in so many ways.

I have also asked if there's really no chance for irregular students to be a part of honor roll given that we have reached the grade requirement. Unfortunately, I will no longer be qualified for this given the limitation.

Overall, we had a very fruitful meeting with our class adviser.

I was thinking of the possible title for this and I thought of the title "A Childhood Dream Coming True" since being a teacher is a lifelong dream for me.

I'm planning to have this portfolio be personal and rooted to my dreams as a young girl.

To continue what I have planned yesterday, I already drafted my layout into the Google Site to test the layouts I made if it will fit with the website.

It took me a lot of time to figure out which will really be fit with the site. The design procedure is already draining, and I am not yet reaching the stage where I would insert photos and texts.

To be honest, this is the first time I am using this so everything will be learned along the way. But, I am definitely enjoying this whole process. I am hoping that I can already pass the phase of designing.

As a teacher, we really have to be creative not only in coming up with designs but also with the activities that can be used in classroom discussions.

Another day that we're scheduled to teach in Grade 8 students and tackle a new lesson. From our first class which was handled by Teacher Paul, I had to observe it followed by Teacher Sha and Teacher Cheys. From the first class, my internet connection is already slow, I had to run a speed test and the results were pretty bad, so I had to restart my device and the wifi router as well. As it was done, I checked the results again and finally had a better outcome, I reconnected with the class and observed.

We had our lunch after then I proceeded with preparing my device. I had to borrow another laptop just to have a back up if ever something unexpected came up. I used to different laptops with an additional monitor and two internet subscription too.

When I started teaching, I had to greet and congratulate my students because they had their examination last week. I had to do so many things to assure that they are listening because our class schedule is not good.

In the middle of my discussion, my internet was acting up. I got disconnected from my main device so I had to unmute from my back up device. I continued with my discussion while I'm trying to reconnect my main device back again. Eventually, I had it resolved and I was able to continue and finish my lecture.

Honestly, I'm grateful that I have my resources that will help me to survive this very challenging phase. I really don't know how will I be able to accomplish all these without the people that are behind me. Also, I have learned to work under pressure, work multitask and simultaneously. I can be sad and irritated with all these experiences but just to use it for something good, I'm treating this as an opportunity to learn and see what can I do if will encounter this.

As a teacher, we cannot be contented of having just a plan, we have to have plans so we will always know what to do in terms of difficulties. I am grateful that there are a lot of people who believe in me, when I am in doubt I think of them so I can regain my strength.

We don't have a scheduled class today but there ae a lot of things that we should do since next week will be the final demo. So, we allotted this day to prepare. First, we researched and read on our contents separately to have an outline on the topic we will be discussing. Then, we decided to have a meeting and discuss further the topic so we will all have the same outline of discussion.

I had more than one reading material for the topic that I have for Byzantine Empire, because I did triangulation method in verifying the facts and information that I am reading on. After reading everything I created my outline and eventually shared it with my co Practice Teachers.

While we were discussing, I go on in sharing with them the topic outline that I have and they followed by adding information from all of us, we tried to analyze and verify everything. As soon as we finished the meeting, we reminded each other to read again, I also tried to search another material on youtube and I also shared it with them.

After the meeting, I created my template for the presentation. I have decided to use "Shopee" as my main theme and I started working on the layout of my design because I want to have it thematized also. I designed the flow of my class aligned with the process of ordering an item online.

It's very important for teachers to always prepare everything may it be an everyday teaching or a demo teaching. We always want to give our students the best learning experience.

I had a very fruitful day today because I had a lot of activities that helped me. Early in the morning I had my discussion with Grade 8 as I introduced a new topic to them. I'm just glad that even though we have a very early call time they were able to actively participate in class.

We had a very interactive class and it made me felt good. I realized that my efforts in preparing this topic paid off because they learned a lot from me. Seeing them participating through zoom chat also encouraged me to do my best as I wanted to give them a great presentation.

After my class, I observed Teacher Sha's class and even though we have the same topic I also learned a lot from her. I am honestly amazed by her templates and on how she designs her presentation.

In the afternoon, we attended an event organized by ITL to help us in creating our E-Portfolio. There was an invited speaker from BECED to tackle about the process of creating the portfolio as it should be aligned with SEMAST.

It was defined and clearly explained to us and on how this will help us evaluate ourselves to be competitive beginning teachers. The speaker also shared the importance of putting our hearts in coming up with this output because this will not only be submitted as a requirement but this will also hold important accounts on the journey that we have as a pre-service teacher.

I am done with my Grand Demonstration Teaching and I couldn't be any happier that I am able to surpass this phase already. I have been preparing for this day and I am just so happy to be doing this finally. During my demo I was using two devices with an additional monitor extension while connected to a postpaid Wifi and mobile data as well for back up. Unexpectedly, my main device was acting up, so I had to restart my device two minutes away from my time. In the middle of it, the laptop crashed, I was so nervous but thankfully I have a back up device so I was able to continue. I have successfully finished my presentation even though there are things I could have done better. During the post con, I was congratulated by my CT and my supervisor, also I am happy that my Lesson Plan improved a lot which would be my main weakness during the initial demo. Also, I loved the fact that she was able to praise me for being a teacher-like already. This day was really memorable for me.
