In order for you to be able to keep yourself and those you are supporting and working with safe, you must complete a number of mandatory training requirements before you are able to go out into clinical practice. We have called these mandatory elements your Passport to Practice training.

Your Passport to Practice mandatory training elements include the following timetabled face-to-face sessions:

BLS and choking practical

Confliction resolution practical

Infection Prevention practical

Manual Handling practical

Breakaway technique practical (Mental Health and Learning Disability students only)

To evidence your achievement and completion of these sessions you must ensure you physically hand-sign a register in your face-to-face sessions. The lecturer facilitating the session will then report on your attendance.

You must attend the session you are timetabled for. You will have one further ‘mop up’ session timetabled for each of the mandatory face-to-face elements, but these should only be used in exceptional circumstances with the support of the module leaders. Failure to attend all of the Passport to Practice face-to-face elements before the deadline for your cohort will result in a ‘fail’ of the module and you will not be able to go out into clinical practice. It is therefore of vital importance that you prioritise these sessions.

Your Passport to Practice mandatory training elements also include the following e-learning learning materials:

Equality, diversity and human rights

Fire safety

Health, safety and welfare

Information governance and data security

Preventing radicalisation

Principles of food hygiene

Safeguarding Adults (level 2)

Safeguarding Children (level 2)

The learning materials for these subjects will be delivered via the e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) platform available via https://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/

At the start of the year, you will be registered onto the e-LfH system, and they will contact you directly via your student email with your login details and instructions on how to access your e-learning training sessions. Please check your junk/spam folders in case the email is located in there. Follow the instructions to set up your account and you can then begin your e-learning. If you have any issues with this process please see the Passport to Practice section on the module shell on Blackboard.

If you forget your e-LfH login information, it can be retrieved here: https://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/forgotten-password

To evidence your achievement and completion of these learning materials you must ensure you complete the multiple-choice quizzes within your MYEPAD document for each skill. This quiz comprises 64 questions (8 per topic) and can be taken multiple times, you must keep taking it until you achieve 100%. Once you have taken a quiz it is important to go back into it to check your results as you must achieve all of the available marks to reach 100% completion.

You must complete all of the e-learning training. Failure to achieve 100% in the Passport to Practice e-learning quiz before the deadline for your cohort will result in a ‘fail’ of the module and you will not be able to go out into clinical practice. It is therefore of vital importance that you prioritise these sessions.

You can find an interactive guide and video instructions detailing how to complete your mandatory training here: https://www.thinglink.com/scene/1638090737021091843
