I suppose what I most want to know about research is how to do it in a more streamlined fashion. I consider myself a pretty good researcher, but I know that there must be more efficient ways to read through sources and glean what is most important than the methods I currently employ. I also feel I need to be shown more efficient and effective ways to take notes across various related sources. Lastly--I need help with anything related to quantitative research (especially statistical concepts). Math has never been my strength!

I am surrounded in my daily work with a large quantity of data and research findings. At times it can be overwhelming because in the field of special education it is ever-changing. While I consider myself fairly adept at analyzing data, I would like to fine-tune my analysis skills and learn to discriminate between research findings that are of value and contribute to the field and those that might have less of an impact. I want to learn more ways in which I can utilize the data to empower teachers and other administrators in helping students grow in a more effective way. Finally, I am very excited to begin my own research project on a topic that has fascinated me for years! Even if the results are not what I expected, I am excited to give this study some substance through the use of data collection and analysis.

I would like to learn the methodology of conducting educational research and how to complete the analysis of the research. Also, I am hoping that by the end of the course that the benefits / drawbacks between quantitative and qualitative research methods are clearer to me as a way focus in on my own study topic for the dissertation.

What I want to learn about research is the best practices in methodology and data collection. I want to conduct a qualitative study and use interviews. I want to learn about the requirements of this process as well and the best way to complete the interviews. I am comfortable with math but some of the topics such a the Z and T are confusing.
