This article, looks at three Companies that have exceptional social media presences: New Belgium Brewing, Dos Equis and Great Lakes Brewing. The author points out that only one of these companies is in the top 10 beer companies on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram based on independent research, but each finds a way to stand out by using specific idiosyncratic and innovative strategies.

In developing our own campaign, the lessons from each of these case studies is important. Each campaign has a core focus that is used for multiple posts over time. This technique breeds interest and steers conversations, as well as creating an atmosphere of "waiting for the next installment". The internal process at each brewery is discussed as being focused, consistent, exclusive and distinctive - and meant to stimulate on-line discussion and re-posts.

This article uses independent research from Engagement Labs, has links to articles that provide back-up information and more colour, and links to examples of social media postings for each brewery. This article gives many great conceptual ideas that should aid in the planning process at any brewery. "Social media content must be exclusive, distinctive, and have substance. In this industry, there’s no room for bad foam." Yes, they said "bad foam"....

<sup>
</sup>
