I've been figure skating for 11 years and used to take a very large role in the skating world. Since I'm only a part-time coach nowadays, I don't hit the rink nearly as often but I still immerse myself in the culture form time to time by going to competitions and watching nationals/regionals/worlds on tv.
As a figure skater I was regularly at the rink, I'd regularly go to 6a practices.
As a coach, I was always trying to figure out how to be the best coach I could be.
The figure skating world is a hard working one. A lot of people don't understand how frustrating the olympic sport can be.

I consider myself to be very involved with the fitness world given the fact that I frequent the gym and am a Certified Personal Trainer. I am also a kickboxing instructor. This means I make sure that I am active just about everyday, I am always fueling my body with healthy foods and I am consistently making an effort to surround myself with people who have similar fitness goals.

As a Woman.....

I identify as a woman. There are more than a couple of things that I consider to be challenging as a woman.
For one, the gap in pay between caucasian men and caucasian women is insane. About .75 to the dollar. It's even lower for those of a minority status.
Secondly, women's reproductive rights are consistently undermined. Men can get viagra no problem, but when it comes to birth control, it can be so much more difficult to get.
Thirdly, it seems like women have some very strange social expectations at times. It's taboo for us to talk about flactulence or other things like that.
Another thing that is something more positive about being a women, is that typically men are expected to pay for a meal on dates or other activities. The downside is that it can feel awkward at times.
Lastly, women are objectified. Everyday, we are expected to look a certain way. Do our makeup, make sure our hair is done so that we can be presentable to society.

I grew up Mormon and no longer identify with the religion. However, my family is still mormon. And because of this it presents challenges when discussing some topics with my family.
As an ex-mormon, your mormon friends always try to get you to come back to church.
My family asks me to get married in the temple though I have no intention of going back to church.
Since I now identify as buddhist, Mormons that I know will consistently try to tell me what's wrong with what I practice.
Distant relatives are not afraid to tell me that the reason unfortunate things happen to me are because I'm not in church.
And I experience some cognitive dissonance at times due to the fact that I was raised mormon.
