Skills unit 1, lesson 9. It was our first time with the Snapshots reader

While reading the story Beth, we were told to ask guiding questions like "What is the dog's name?" and "With the way Beth's hair is blowing, what is the weather like at the top of the path?" and both of these questions did not match the photos. The teacher's directions on the slides said that the dog's name was Jet, based on his dog tag. There was a collar but not a tag. With the hair blowing the picture was referring to did not have hair blowing in the wind.

When a student goes too fast or too slow on the MAZE a message comes back that there is no score for it. Despite multiple attempts to slow students down they continue to be click happy. Why does the program not give a score with how much time it took the kid to complete it? It would be nice to have that information for CPSP.

Is it reasonable to expect much growth between weekly measures for our well below students? It seems to be more beneficial, both time wise and allowing the Tier 1 and interventions to hit, to keep them with the biweekly schedule instead of weekly. This is one area that is stressing many teachers out and wondering if it is something that can be reevaluated in the future since the PM probes are more time intensive, and difficult (PSF,NSW) than in the past?

In years past, we would not PM. However, we were also using materials that didn't require specific data for lesson sets.

Since the directions give the students the two options of how they can read the word, teachers are wondering if the word reading score counts as part of the composite score since there is a column for that score and whether the students are benchmark or not. It's been confusing for the teacher between the directions and the students' scores and wondering if they should adjust the directions.

A teacher is concerned that the skills being taught and assessed in the next lesson set is above what her group needs. She was wondering if anything could be done about that. Is this more an AI situation? Is it because of the lack of staff support for groups and students with some mixed skill sets in one group that AI's formula adjusts based on (lacking a word to put here.) I wasn't sure what to tell her and wanted to give a solid answer back to her. Thanks!
