This project is set to take place across various regions of Ethiopia, with the timeline being between the years of 2023 and 2027. The primary goal of this project is to assess and map the groundwater potential in Ethiopia and develop effective strategies for siting wells to ensure sustainable access to clean water for communities. This project is being led by the government of Ethiopia’s Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), along with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The potential benefits of this project are significant. Access to reliable sources of clean water is essential for multiple reasons such as, public health, agricultural productivity, and economic development in Ethiopia. The project aims to improve access to clean water for drinking, irrigation, and sanitation purposes, especially in rural and underserved areas. This could lead to improved health outcomes, increased food security, and enhanced livelihoods for communities. If successful this project could positively alter the lives of Ethiopian citizens.

On the other, there are concerns and challenges associated with the project. The first being potential environmental impacts, such as groundwater depletion or contamination. There may also be socio-economic challenges, such as conflicts over water rights or questions over distribution of resources.

While there are risks and challenges, if managed effectively, I believe that this project has the potential to benefit both people and nature in Ethiopia. This project will improve access to clean water and support sustainable development in the country. It is important for the Ethiopian government to engage with local communities, prioritize environmental sustainability, and ensure equal access to water resources in order to maximize the outcome. If this project succeeds it will provide food security for the people of Ethiopia, improving their way of life.

This project will take place in Togo and be effective by 2030. The goal of this project is to provide electricity to the rural areas in Togo allowing access to electricity like never before. This will be done with the installation of solar home kits as well as a pay-as-you-go system relying on mobile banking. This will be done by the gathered research from technical, economic, and financial studies. This research and project was done by the CIZO program in hopes of enhancing the access of technology to these rural areas.

Some benefits of this program in terms of electricity in Togo include access to lighting, phone rechargeability, and power for small appliances used in everyday life. This project also allows the power of street lights, schools, and other various buildings and resources. There were no negatives mentioned in this article as to why this project would be an issue as it would rather expand the development of this area.

I feel that this will impact Togo greatly as they can access electricity like never before. It will lead to a safer environment for the people in this area as they will have better access to light in the darker hours as well as benefit from the use of technology. Not to mention solar energy is good for the environment as it is a sustainable and renewable source. Overall I feel like this project will lead to great change in the areas of Togo.

The European Union’s “funding instrument for environment and climate action”, LIFE, is set to take place between the years 2021 to 2027 in various European countries. The goal of LIFE is to “fulfill the objectives and targets of the European 2020 strategy and the EU’s environment and climate strategies”; basically to combat environmental and climate issues going on in Europe. The European Commission (DG Environment and DG Climate Action) manages LIFE. LIFE will focus on taking care of nature and biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the clean energy transition all throughout Europe to provide innovative solutions to the environment and climate crises. This will also help tourism in Europe with activities related to the green transition. With the development of technology, that too will help make things run smoothly and effectively. The only main concern with LIFE is the lack of funding when it comes to energy-efficiency renovations. I believe that this project will benefit the people of Europe. If all goes well, I hope other countries and continents will take the same action as Europe to combat environmental and climate crises. With 27 out of the 44 European countries involved in the European Union, I think change will be made very fast and hopefully inspire other countries to make change as well.

Assessment for Waste Heat Potential in Türkiye - James Hart

This project will start in 2023 and will be continuing into 2030 in Turkey. The goal of the project is to convert industrial waste heat into a viable energy source for the rest of the country. The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR) and their government are in charge of the project as they want to tap into this source of potential energy for their country.

The potential benefits of this project are that the amount of CO2 being pumped into the atmosphere would be reduced. Turkey is a country that has to import their energy from others and with this in place, the amount they would have to borrow would be reduced heavily. This would then allow them to divert funds to areas that would need it more. A concern about this project is that not all industries output enough industrial heat waste for a system to be installed in them to recycle the heat without money being lost in the process. It would only apply to larger-scale operations with how the current technology is.

I think this project has great potential if the reported estimates that by 2050, the amount of energy they would need would be doubled, turn out to be true. It would save them money in the long run which would mean more funding for places that need it within the country. It would reduce the total impact being made on global warming and would provide Turkey with a source of energy that they do not need to import.

The project in rural India is set to run from 2023 to 2027 and aims to provide sustainable energy access to underserved communities by implementing off-grid renewable energy systems like solar panels and mini-grids. It is a collaboration among international development organizations, NGOs, the Indian government, local communities, and private sector partners. The project intends to enhance quality of life by giving better access to electricity, reduce reliance on harmful energy sources, create job opportunities, and boost local economic development. While there are concerns about implementation costs, financial sustainability, community participation, and environmental impacts, the project is expected to have a positive impact on the people, environment, and economy of rural India if proper planning, engagement, and monitoring are ensured.

The Diamer Basha Dam Project - Abigail Bauer

The Diamer Basha Dam Project is currently under construction in Pakistan and is expected to be completed by 2028. The goal of the Diamer Basha Dam Project is to perform the necessary preparations to ensure that the Diamer Basha Dam will be a successful and financially viable project. The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment looks at the ways the dam could affect other variables such as the climate, cultural preservation, and the nature of the land. The dam itself would be owned by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). China is funding most of the project's costs, construction, and providing workers. The team for this project was selected by the United States Agency for International Development of Pakistan. If the dam were to be completed, it would be able to provide 4800 megawatts of electricity for the country of Pakistan as well as provide a source of water for drinking and irrigation in Pakistan. The dam would also control flood damage that is caused by the Indus River, which has been the source of 21 major floods in the last 70 years. There are concerns over China’s involvement in the project with a history of poor environmental and social impact assessments associated with their global dam industry. There are also concerns over increased tensions with India as the reservoir is located near the Pakistan-occupied area of Kashmir. There are also rock carvings preserved from the era of the ancient Indus River Valley people that could be damaged or destroyed with the construction of this dam. I don’t think that the dam is being properly positioned and should be considered for relocation. There seem to be too many environmental and social impacts that are not being taken into account.

Benin's Rural Water Supply Strategy - Nathan Karp

This project in Benin started back in 2017 with preparing a rural water supply development strategy for the years 2017-2030. There was also an action plan that took place between 2017-2021, and a financing plan that is in affect until 2030. The goal of this project is to provide Benin with universal access to safe drinking water by 2030. The Benin government, as well as Stantec are contributing to this project. Stantec provided a survey to many households across Benin and developed strategic options on achieving 100% coverage of safe drinking water across Benin. There are many benefits to this project. Providing this country with safe drinking water will greatly change their lives. Many adults and children in Benin have faced numerous challenges due to the lack of drinking water. Everyone should have access to safe drinking water, as it is a necessity to life. There are not many concerns for this project, just hope that it achieves its goal on time. A possible concern could be that some areas of the safe drinking water could become contaminated if something fails. I believe this project has only benefits to the people and the area. Millions of people have been struggling in Benin for decades due to the lack of safe drinking water. This project is changing the lives of the people of Benin for the better. They will soon have universal access to safe drinking water and will not have to boil water to drink or worry about contamination.

Euroclima+

Euroclima is an EU-funded program that operates in Latin American countries to support climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. It was launched in 2017 as the successor to the previous Euroclima program, which began in 2009. The Program covers funding and technical assistance for implementing projects focusing on forests, biodiversity and ecosystems, energy efficiency, water management, risk management, urban mobility, resilient food systems, and climate governance. The primary goal of this project is to strengthen climate action and promote sustainable development in Latin American Countries.

The Euroclima Program is a regional cooperation initiative between the European Union and Latin American countries. The Main contributors to the Program are the EU institutions, including the European Commission and EU member states. These contributors provide financial resources, technical expertise, and political support to the Program. The Program is implemented by various organizations, which include Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID): The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ): The German Society for International Cooperation. Expertise France: A French international technical cooperation agency. FIIAPP (Fundación Internacional y para Iberoamérica de Administración y Políticas Públicas): The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies.

The Program provides technical assistance, capacity-building support, and financial resources to promote climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainable development, enhanced institutional capacities, knowledge sharing, and regional economic opportunities. One of the primary objectives of the Euroclima+ Program is to contribute to climate change mitigation by promoting renewable energy sources, energy efficiency measures, and sustainable transportation solutions. By supporting the transition to low-carbon economies, the Program aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Latin American countries, thus mitigating the impacts of climate change on a global scale.

Another key objective of the Program is to enhance climate change adaptation by investing in climate-resilient infrastructure, natural resource management strategies, and early warning systems. The Euroclima+ Program also promotes sustainable development in Latin America by integrating climate change considerations into development planning and decision-making processes. This includes addressing poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation while fostering economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

The Euroclima Program faces several challenges that could impact its continuity and effectiveness—financial sustainability. The Program's long-term financial sustainability is at risk if funding commitments from the European Union or other donors fluctuate or diminish over time. This could reduce the number of ongoing projects and initiatives, delaying the Program's objectives or even causing its premature termination. If there are shifts in political leadership or changes in government priorities that affect the Program's continuity or implementation, it could lead to significant delays or even threaten the Program's existence. The challenge is technological dependence. While promoting renewable energy and sustainable technologies is essential for mitigating climate change, there may be concerns about technological dependence or reliance on external solutions.

I do believe that the Euroclima Program

has the potential to significantly contribute to building a more sustainable, resilient, and climate-compatible future for Latin America, benefiting both people and nature in the region. However, realizing these potential benefits depends on various factors, including political commitment, financial resources, institutional capacities, and stakeholder engagement.

The Jordan 2025 vision is a roadmap that aims to revitalize Jordans economy. They plan to implement numerous economic reforms to create and expand on a private sector, in other words, a more capitalist society.

Stantec was contracted to help Jordans government with their evaluation expertise and capacity building support.

This project will put Jordan on the map in terms of their economy. America is well known for its capitalist system and many would say it is the reason America is considered one of the most ideal countries. By introducing a private sector in Jordan it would allow so much opportunity for them to flourish as a country. That being said, there are also many concerns when it comes to the introduction of capitalism one of the biggest being unfairness among citizens. This concern may not cause many problems in Jordan though since their systems will simply be introductions that are surface level.

I think this is a great project and it will greatly impact the people of Jordan. It is great to see a country taking action to improve their country.

This project takes place in Sub-Saharan Africa and will be effective by 2040 or potentially sooner. The goal of this project is to address the barriers related to technology transfer and to support countries adopting pro-climate policies as well as prioritizing and enabling technology transfer through policy, institutional, and organizational reforms. This project is being supported by the GEF (Global Environment Facility) and run by the AFDB (African Development Bank Group.) The potential benefits of this project include technology transfer, capacity building, access to finance, networking, job creation, and resilience building. The impacts of this project consist of economic growth, climate resilience, technology development, carbon emission reductions, capacity building, and international cooperation. The concerns and fears within this project include financial sustainability due to the funding sources and ongoing support for climate-related projects, technology transfer challenges there could be challenges ensuring an effective transfer of sustainable technologies, and last but not least equity, and social impacts because there may be concerns about the equitable distribution of the benefits from climate mitigation. I believe that this project will benefit people, nature, and the area as a whole due to the amount of effort, support, and people that are helping as well as the adaptive management which allows flexibility, learning, and adjustment. I also believe that this project will benefit people, nature, and the area as a whole due to the amount of success there was in the past.

The AMA is taking place and operating out of 55 different African countries including South Africa, Benin, Niger, Sudan, South Sudan, Egypt, Chad, and Angola. They were first started in 2019 and quickly was recognized as a Specialized Agency of the African Union.

The goal of this project is to make medical supplies and proper medical care accessible to everyone in Africa, mainly focusing on rural villages and slums throughout major cities. They also want to provide leadership in creating an enabling regulatory environment for Pharmaceutical Sector Development in Africa. They also want to increase trade for medical supplies and increase pharmaceutical research, technology, and access. Authenticating medicine, pharmacies, and doctors is also a huge priority.

The EMA is the main funder of the AMA. They received a 10 million euro grant from the European Commission in order to start and build the AMA. The European Commission is also the main marketing agency for the AMA.

The potential benefits and improvements of this organization are very great. These include the widespread use of safe medicine and the safe practice of medicine. It also improves the authentication of medicine and the entire medical field in general as well as the overall health and wellbeing of the people of Africa who did not have access to this medicine before.

However, there are some weaknesses with this agency. These include counterfeiting, lack of research, and lack of funding. Even with the 10 million euro grant, the Agency is quickly running out of money and funding. They also have some issues with corruption and counterfeiting their funding money. They also don't have enough money to fund research projects so their research has been quite slow.

I think that this project over the years has improved the state of the medical field in Africa. However, I think the government can do more to fund it since it is very crucial. However, I understand that there are many issues that need addressing and funding but I think this is still very important.

This project takes place across Latin American and Caribbean countries. EUROCLIMA+ is a program funded by EU that helps provide various services that are made to help support the implementation of Latin American countries under the Paris Agreement. The goal of this program is to help cover technical assistance and provide funds for implementation projects. These implementation projects include biodiversity and ecosystems, risk management, water management, and climate governance. The European Union Launched this project. Caribbean Ministers agreed to put only green transition as the center of the partnership between the Caribbean and EU regions. Euroclima is the EU's flagship program for green action across Latin America as well as the Caribbean. Euroclima also helps contribute to the implementation of the Global Gateway Investment Agenda within the region. Some potential benefits of EUROCLIMA+ is to better help support ecosystems as well as vulnerable individuals and communities to help increase their resilience of climate change. Some potential concerns or fears over this project is the concern of climate change showing progression even through EUROCLIMA+ is in place. I believe this project have and will benefit individuals due to the fact that EUROCLIMA+ directly addresses the challenges and concerns of climate change and offers a wide range of specialized services that support the implementation of Latin American Countries. This program also helps out with funds for present and future projects as well.

EU Communication Campaign in Morocco

This project is taking place in Morocco and has been in effect since 2020. Since 1976, the European Union has been a partner of Morocco, where it has more than 220 ongoing projects.

The goal of this project is to help create a better connection between the EU and Morocco. Through strategic and creative communication, increased public awareness of the EU’s commitment and support can contribute to a stronger partnership between Morocco and the European Union.

The ones running the whole project is the European Union. They develop and organize tailor-made campaigns and events, produce and distribute communication materials, and target the right medium for every content and activity. As with all of their communication projects, their work is based on a comprehensive analysis of the local situation, the communities that form an audience, and the clients’ needs and priorities.

The benefits of this project come down to the benefits that come with being in the European Union. It will help the community have more stability and security while ensuring a better democracy for the members of the EU. It will also help to create more jobs and higher wages for the people of Morocco.

The fears of Morocco becoming a better partner with the European Union are the amount of challenges the EU faces directly. Examples are the rivalry between the United States and China, the attack on Ukraine from Russia, and the conflicts in Gaza. All of these have been difficult obstacles for the EU to overcome. Morocco developing a better partnership with the EU can cause their countries problems too.

I do believe this project will help to develop a better society for the people of Morocco. The benefits outweigh the risks.

The EU Delegation to Morocco adopts a strategy to improve the EU’s communication and visibility. Morocco's government has become more stable and their environment is cleaner and meets better living standards for those who live there. I believe it will only get better.

Development of a Solar Pay-as-you-go Rural Electrification Solution-Alex Schoenen

The solar rural electrification solution takes place in Togo, Africa and many surrounding countries in need of electricity. The project is aimed to give all citizens electricity by 2030 in an effective way that is up to the user to decide how much they use electricity. The project has already installed it's system in over 550 thousand houses and provide electricity for homes, streets, schools, and water pumps. The purpose is to provide everyone in Togo electricity whenever it is needed.

KPMG seems to be the main contributor of this project and ACEF as the main donor. As long as there is still donations coming in from companies, they can continue to put 100% of funding into the project. Benefits of this project can create more opportunities for the people of Affrica. It was 11 out of 20 biggest growing countries recently and with 700 million out of 1 billion people not having electricity, it provides exponential opportunity for the people of Affrica. It will give the people light at night to protect their people and watch out for potential threats. It is also good because having electricity for teachers to learn more means that they have the ability to teach their kids more.

The main concern of this project is environmental effects. Everything has a downside and this one's biggest is it's potential to harm the environment if the electronics ever go to waste or are left behind. Even with this downside, I think this project only serves to benefit the people of Togo and Affrica as a whole. Having electricity to power irrigation systems will save people time, energy, and other valuable recourses. I hope that I can one day be beneficial to people in underdeveloped countries and support them as much as possible.

Advisory Services for Ulaanbaatar Water Supply Infrastructure - Xander Bradley

The Advisory Services for Ulaanbaatar Water Supply Infrastructure project is taking place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The goal of the project is to increase water supply in Ulaanbaatar by nearly 70 million cubic meters per year, improve industrial wastewater management, and increase the availability of potable water to peripheral migrant yurt-based communities. Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the GoM are investing in three related activities: bulk water supply, wastewater recycling, and water sector sustainability. The main potential benefit for this project would be the fact of Mongolia having cleaner and drinkable water compared to what they have currently. There are no listed concerns or fears towards this project. Personally, I do believe that this project will help the people and community of Mongolia.
