Multiplication is linked with addition. It is done with a greater value.We use 'time table' to find the product. Division is continuous subtraction with a greater number.
We use them in solving the word problems, to find the discount on an item (etc).
The choice of doing/solving problems (among the four operations) depend on the Value.The greater it is multiplication and division is used. Vise Versa.
