The sources of wisdom in my life vary but I've always relied on the words from my Dad. He's always taught me to never depend on a man for my validation or outcomes in life. He taught me to push myself and create a life of success on my own. "my mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America. You could open a restaurant. You could work for the government" "You can be anything". (Tan, Pg. 242). My dad always made me feel like I can do anything on my own and be the most successful woman. Male validation can be addicting but the only type of validation that will actually bring you happiness is validation within yourself.

When I choose who sits at my table this isn't a hard question. I have beautiful people in my life and when it comes to a mentor and those I look up to, these people are so prominent in my life. I would have my Dad, my coach, sister, best friend and boyfriend. These people push me to be the best version of myself even when my cup is half way empty. The encouragement and dedication I have learned from each of them has taught me a new way of life. "I feel like a man who's been trying to climb up out of some deep, real deep and funky hole and just saw the sun up there, outside. I got to get outside" (Baldwin, Pg. 299). This quote really resonated with me when I was at a low point in my life and then found the people in my life to recognize my sun again.

These people have taught me just about all of these traits. Exemplarity is a big one from these people in my life. I learn from them every single day and take on their advice and move from their actions. They have also given me a sense of authenticity because they allow me to be who I am and accept the real version of Autumn.

My sport has given me an influence to stay committed to something even when it becomes hard. Same as school, it is easy to drop out or quit your sport but staying committed and creating discipline will create a lifelong commitment to anything you do.
