Rapid detection of a respiratory virus through noninvasive methods has been difficult (Ghumra D. et al 2023). This new point-of-care test will be able to detect a respiratory virus in 60 seconds with as few as two breaths from the patient (Ghumra D. et al 2023). Three COVID strains were tested and ultimately the detection of the strains was 3-4 orders of magnitude lower than nasal swabs and 2-3 orders in saliva tests (Ghumra D. et al 2023). The results of clinical trials had a 77.9% sensitivity and 100% specificity (Ghumra D. et al 2023). The device can be adapted to several different respiratory viruses (Ghumra D. et al 2023).

This is a great idea for a rapid test for various respiratory viruses. The process still needs refinement to help with the ease of transport and administration. The test is cheap and could help with the detection of the virus so as to limit the time the patient is in the clinical setting. There needs to be a more comprehensive study done to verify the repeatability, sensitivity, and specificity. The best rationale for using this test over the nasal swab and saliva tests is the fact that it is less invasive for patients so they will take the test and quick results for less time in the clinic.

This will help me bring all the strengths of my team together. I understand the different perspectives and will guide the team in the direction needed to accomplish the study and help gather data to make the point-of-care test a valuable tool.
Alice – Achiever

She will be a good team member due to her hardworking nature and her strong work ethic. She will make things happen and the testing will move forward with her.

Angelica – Analytical

I need her because she will think things through and analyze all aspects of the project. Even though she may overthink the process she will be dependable in getting the data in the correct format.

Carter – Communication

Carter will hold the team together with his ability to talk to others and bring another perspective to the team. He will be able to describe our results and present them in an easy-to-understand format.

Faith – Futuristic

Faith will be good for the team in that she can see the potential of the device and what it can be used for in the future. She will add a perspective to the team and guide us in directions that may not have been thought of in that direction.

Ivan – Intellection

He will be an excellent sounding board and will be able to see areas that may have not been explored.
