I've been in the village for 8 days. I did not wash my hair for the whole time but I cleaned up in a bucket of water each day. I stayed 4 days in Odule, the Chief's village where all the warriors live and are trained. Then I stayed in the ilamai village at our driver's mama's home for the second 4 days and worked at the school. I taught the children songs to perform for their mamas when they all came to the school to get their solar light for their manyatta/home. It took hours to teach them how to install it in their home. I brought 200 books so with the lights, they can read at night. It's been an amazing experience but I'm ready to go to Gana and visit my friends. They do not eat with the women and children because they only eat protein to get strong. They go out in the bush an cook the meat and all stand around cutting it up with a massive knife. On this day we shared goat meat...it was on the tough side. I can chew and chew the meat, I just can't eat the fat..they eat it all. After eating, Jessica had a meeting about her foundation building a shower and laundry area. They also need to be taught to rake up the cow dung to help reduce the flies. They approved the project and the process is under way.
