The reaction to the stimulus had an automatic negative and heart breaking feel. The establishment for a very simplistic and relaxed but heart hitting lyrically. The stimulus itself is an article of a series of events that resulted in a young girl losing her father and her view of it. This is the perspective of the song.

Initial thoughts and response.

The response was once again debated on how to approach the overall song. One view being to have the response as slightly up tempo and therefore make the impact less harsh, where as it was also debated to make it sound like a somber type of song. The reaction however was the same for both, that the young girl had lost her father. But also she was not going to get him back and therefore the song is done from her perspective. The final song was portrayed in the somber structure as it had more of an effect and made the audience able to connect with it. We also had the discussion of how to incorporate everyone as the instrument choice changed throughout the process. It changed in the sense that originally there was the bass, ukulele ais was nd an electric guitar along with the vocals. Due to the stimulus this was the incorrect way to approach the stimulus in our opinions and therefore we silenced the idea of having an electric and transferred to the piano instead. This created the lovely relaxing yes memorable melody of the song.

During the Performance

During the performance itself we decided to have everything very stripped back. The ukulele set a very nice entrance to the song and really set the imagery for the song. Bass later joins in with the piano and it creates a simplistic yet relaxing sound to the ear. All of which fit the song perfectly and all of which fit the stimulus well. The way the bass is played allows the ukulele to be played heard and also the keys. Single strokes are used on the ukulele to create the striped back sound. As the progression continues , the frequency of the strumming increases and thus created the emotions of the young girl's feeling being bottled up. When the bass joins in with the low pitch notes allow contrast and harmonising of the two types. One shows that the little girl has to remain positive for her family (piano) while the other represents the pain and heartbreak she is experiencing at such a young age.

Feedback As Well As Strengths Ansd Weeknesses

When performing the the group we were told that the song was "nice and gentle and fitted the simulus very well." This was stated by our peers and by the tutor. The song itself reflected the iway we would have liked and this was the main strength of the group.

Other ways the group showed strengths ws through the way that song came across. By this I mean that song was full sounding and portrayed as intended. By having instruments almost harmonising in a sense it also made a fuller sound to the song on a whole.

However I do believe that ways to improve some our weaknesses-such as low vocals and levels in general- we could have altered the way the instruments were sounding. I say this because the piano could be heard however the sound wasn't very easy to hear unless you were close by. And also some of the vocals could have been louder as the singer has recently lost her voice and therefore it had not fully recovered and it was her fault( female without the ukulele).

Other Uses

I believe this song could be used in other circumstances as it is easy to listen to. When broken down the lyrics have a meaningful back story which can show others that not all people are lucky enough to have the privileges other people who lose their parent or members of their immediate family may have. This goes from having the ability to support themselves through help of those who can, or going to talk to someone one for reasons such as counseling. If this was used again, I believe it would be a real eye opener for people to realize the harsh reality of the lives people live in different countries or even this one alone.
