Turtles also have a lower shell portion, though, called a plastron. These shells serve as both a shelter and a shield. When feeling threatened, turtles retreat to their shells as a defense. As mentioned, turtles have an upper and lower shell. The upper shell, or carapace, is made up of many scutes. Scutes are individual sections of fused bone that make up the shell. The lower shell, or plastron, is also made up of scutes, but they are typically larger, with fewer scutes used to create the shell. These shells protect the turtle's vital organs, much like a human's ribcage. The shell's colors also help the turtle blend into its environment. I stuck with the idea of using a backpack, but I changed the functionality thereof. Unfortunately, I am not a turtle. Therefore, I could not fit all of those functions into a singular product. Instead, I rebranded my backpack idea and made it a survival kit of sorts. Now, a human could carry with them all that they needed in one convenient package. A water-resistant coating on the exterior of the bag would protect the items from damage. The pillows that line the bag would keep the wearer safe in a fisticuffs altercation. Lastly, the contents of the bag help in various ways. For the user, a portable umbrella hat is at the ready for unexpected precipitation. In the unfortunate event of the aforementioned altercation, a person could use the scissors in an unconventional way. The blanket is stowed away as provisions of a cozy solace on a cool night.
