         <description><![CDATA[<p>Someone who is <strong>legally blind</strong> has 20/200 or less vision in the better eye, even with correction, or has a field of vision narrower than 20 degrees at its widest. <strong>Low vision</strong> students have between 20/70 and 20/200 vision in their better eye with correction.</p><p><br></p><p>Educationally, a student is considered blind when they must <strong>use braille</strong> to read. Low vision students may read print with assistive tools, aural assistance, and/or use braille.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p><strong><mark>Blindness is visible. </mark></strong></p><p>A person with visual impairment can be identified by: their cane, physically abnormal eyes, thick or darkened glasses, or a guide dog.</p></li><li><p><strong><mark>Language development is unaffected. </mark></strong></p><p>A child who is blind can hear the language being used, and is motivated to use language because this is the main channel through which they communicate with others. </p></li><li><p><strong><mark>Motor delays, </mark></strong></p><p>such as sitting up, crawling, and walking.</p></li><li><p><strong><mark>They automatically develop better extra sense of sounds, smells, and touch. </mark></strong></p><p>Children with visual impairment must extend themselves to the world to pick up some of the same information.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The federal government classifies only about 0.04% of the population ranging from 6 to 21 years of age as “visually impaired,” which includes those who are blind or who have low vision.</p><p><br/></p><p>Low vision can result from different diseases and age, meaning that low vision is more common in older adults. Among the more serious impairments are those caused by glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetes. </p><p><br/></p><p>However, the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness predicts vision loss (all kinds) to increase by 55% within the next 25 years.</p>]]></description>
