This project took me all of first semester in my first year of being in Advanced Ceramics. I have always loved the ocean and everything that lives in it, like mermaids; they're my favorite fictional species. During the greenware stage it was challenging making hair out of clay, making the scale pattern for her tail, and making everything in my mermaid project hollow, which included her thin arms. After firing it was challenging to glaze all of her scales because I wanted a variety of greens and blues on her tail. Overall I am very satisfied with the way my project turned out! It was definitely worth all the time I invested into her, it was worth working through all my struggles because i knew i would love the end product.

The requirements for this project was to create a creature that was nothing like what already exists, entirely unique. We used the pinch pot method to make our project. Making this project I struggled with creativity, I just added as i went, nothing really inspired my project.

This was my second ceramic project I made during my junior year. We made two evenly sized pinch pots then scored and slipped them together to make a hollow sphere. We were required to carve in designs into our sphere and I had a lot of fun carving into my project. I did lots of geometric shapes and putting them in a certain area made it look really cool. The color choices for this project made it look like, what it brought to mind was, a circus-inspired object. It was a really fun and colorful project, we had to keep conscious reminder to not carve all the way through the walls of the circle.

This was my final project of junior year second semester. We were given options in choice of project and I chose to make a wind-chime that was inspired by the ocean. It was very difficult rolling out a huge slab of clay for my starfish, and there were many times that the arms broken that I had to score and slip back on. After firing for the first time I realized my mistake of not poking decent holes through my project so that I could string up the wind-chime pieces. In result the arms broke off and I had to put mender's to try and fix the arms after firing with glaze. I made another mistake when I glazed too much near the holes and the glaze hardened and clogged the holes and I tried breaking through the holes and the arms broke off again. I had to glue them back on but I still love my project. My favorite part of this project is probably the whale shark I made because it turned out really cute and nice.

This was our stiff slab project and I chose to make a really intricate shape for my container because I really wanted a challenge that would turn out to be an interesting shape. What inspired me for this project was crystals, their irregular shape is really cool and it's uneven shape forms naturally. It was difficult when it came to the math of my project. It was made of 19 slabs of clay that were mostly all different and I had to figure out what angles to cut the slabs at so that it would, from the bottom to top, open out then go back inwards. The walls of my slabs didn't exactly meet up when I began constructing the shape but I managed to problem solve! Then for design I decided on putting roses all around my project. On one of the bottom sides of my project I wrote a bible versus in Spanish about love for my mother because it was a gift for her and basically my family. I liked the glazes I chose for my project, one element glaze and a crystal glaze that were complimentary to each other. I love this project because it came out very nicely and it was difficult to make, which made it fun!

This a dino dash project I helped make. It was part of our second semester final in beginning ceramics, in which we were given the option to do with a partner. My partner's name was Melissa and it was really fun making the dinosaur with her. It was enjoyable when we brainstormed together what kind of dinosaur we should've made, what characteristics we'd give it and such. Her name is Tiny and she's #1 in our hearts. We thought it would be cute to give her a crown and a little red cape (you can't really see it in the photo sadly.) Overall I really liked the project she and I created together with both our really good ideas.
