Instructors can put together flowing slideshows and presentations to teach lessons on multimedia journalism. Students can lay out their stories on Adobe Spark in a visually appealing way and embed multimedia right into their stories (photo galleries, videos, audio clips, and more). They also have special deals and discounts for educators and students.

I know you use WordPress as your host site for the student newspaper, but it has updated since it was implemented into the journalism program. It has a simple user interface that allows students to lay out their stories in a create and good-looking way (similar to Adobe Spark, but less themes to choose from). You can also embed more media options now. Students can also create their own digital portfolios here, which would be helpful to have before graduating high school.

Nearpod is a helpful classroom tool to use now that you and your students are back in-person. It's especially handy for the individual presentations and class discussions because it allows for students to post their thoughts and ideas on a collaborative white board. The instructor or student leading the discussion can ask open-ended questions using Nearpod rather than just raising hands; this way, the students who didn't get a chance to speak can add their thoughts to a shared board and still participate in the discussion.

I know being a journalism advisor for a student-led paper can be challenging because student journalists can be very headstrong and look to you for guidance. There are always ethical dilemmas and issues with protecting student journalists that pop up every year; to prepare for these challenges, consider joining a Facebook group like this one called "Journalism Teachers" with over 2.5k members. You can ask questions, seek advice, find materials and lesson suggestions, etc.
