Know- By receiving the theme word for our final major project; "originality", and going to the Tate Modern Museum, I learnt how many different ways there are to express yourself by using different forms of art; such as paintings and sculptures. Using everyday objects to also create things such as the swings when they created shadows on the walls and floor. This was one thing that stood out to me because it seemed so basic but it was memorable when I saw it because the closer you got to the wall, the smaller the shadow got, which represented to me that the closer you get to something, the further away you are from seeing the bigger picture. This helped inspire me for an idea for my project to use art to help express how you are feeling, because personally I feel that it is a great way to represent how you feel, and it is controversial so everyone will be able to get different opinions on the pieces. I wanted to focus on using music as a main piece in my final project, because I feel it is one of the most common uses to explain how you are feeling and it also helps people with their own feelings when listening. So, by using this in a short film, I want it to be able to tell a story from using the music.
Do- I used some photography skills in taking photos of the art and things that inspired me. Using different angles allowed me to get some good outcomes. Although when trying to get some extra close up shots, it was hard as most of the art had barriers in the way so I could not get the shots I intended to get, but overall I had a good outcome. I posted the photos onto a padlet page so it is all in one place and I am proud of some of the final photos I took on my phone.
Show- https://padlet.com/ginacullinan31/eceqdwtwkj19 This is where the photos from the trip will be in a collective.
Improve- I want to improve on my open mindedness and try to look at everyday things to inspire me and be open to new things I would not usually like, or go for. This will allow me to be as creative as i can be, which will help improve on ideas I may use and be able to represent the theme of originality.

Know- I have a rough idea of what I want to do for FMP, from the trip last week which gave me an insight of different ways to get across how you feel in different forms; and also watching a new short film that just got released, called Can Cowboy's Cry. This film really gave me the idea to want to create something similar. From this I was able to explain my idea of creating a short film with no dialogue but with the music telling the story with my group and we were able to discuss our thoughts and ideas on how we could do this. We started to discuss and think of songs we want to use that would be suited. As a group, this was starting to help us with our own self motivation towards the project which is important now that we are on FMP.
Do- Once we had all spoken and gathered our ideas together, showing our teamwork skills, the idea has changed from our original one where I had wanted to use music to tell the story. This is because we tried to incorporate other members ideas together, Becky's idea to use superpowers for good; we had several mind maps to show our process of thinking, this was good because we were able to look back and see the idea progressing. We got feedback from Leila, she made us think more thoroughly and be realistic in our approach to the idea as it was not very realistic for us to be able to produce; as the editing skills would need a lot and our editor wasn't sure if she is able to incorporate the right skills to do this; so we decided as a group that is isn't best to use this idea. Although, this was very demotivating it helped us progress our thinking and idea process and helped us get a stronger and more practical idea.
Improve- I need to improve on my planning skills, so that I can ensure that whatever idea we go for is completely thought out and realistic to achieve. Being more strong minded with ideas I think may not work properly; being more assertive in the sense, especially because I am working with friends. Working with friends is all well and good but we need to address the professionalism when working together, so that we don't take advantage of each other and can fulfil our job roles to the best we can. I have learnt to be more thorough in research and to really think every detail through so that all of the answers will be questioned and we cover everything; such as editing skills, is the editor strong enough in this area to do special effects? Where will we film, is it easy accessible for the entire group? Which is good because then it will help me get the grade that I am aiming for; which is distinction and can help with production in order to run smoother.

Know- Since the Tate Modern trip, I had started thinking and developing an idea for our final major project and, over easter, my group and I were able to speak about it and develop it together. I had spoken with Sam about our idea as he wanted to join our group, I spoke with the group and everyone was excited to see what he had to offer. When speaking with him he understood the idea and what I was going for and was able to give us a stronger narrative, which was good because we were able to collaborate all of our ideas into one final idea. With Sam's idea for the storyline, which is a relationship where the girl cheats on the boy, it will work really well because it is something personal to him so that motivates us to make sure we make the story as real as possible, we can do this by ensuring we write the script really well. Now that we have Sam in our group, I think he can bring a sense of freshness and newness to the thinking and developing, and can bring an element of outside thinking as me, Tommy and Becky are friends so having his opinion and vision can help our group and ideas flourish.
Do- By being able to work as a team and put our ideas together we were able to come up with our final idea for our project. The process of trying to get a final idea that we all agree with and that is practical to actually create has been hard, but receiving the feedback has made me personally look at everything I want to do and ensure that it is practical as possible. We went to Hatfield Forest as a group and spoke about what we could try in filming, we had certain shots we wanted to test out to see how it turns out, but also everyone came up with suggestions to test other things. Visiting the location was effective and helpful because it has given us all a vision on how the film could really end up looking. We got some follow shots which did look good but the footage was still shaky so we learnt that we would need the Ronin to do these shots to a professional standard. I was able to take some photos to see what angles looked good and how it looked against the location, and I think this location is very well suited with the style we want to try and achieve. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1y-vPUx9lB17bluAsXK-gEA5eQAg9p4dz. We had Daniel Johnson come in to speak us and I found it interesting. I learnt from him to use my initiative more and be impulsive as such when out in public, if I think there is a good location or scenery then I should just try and shoot something. This will improve on my technical skills, and also my creativity.
Improve- I need to improve on being more analytical in my writing so that I can secure the distinction grade I need, so when writing make sure I am following Point, Evidence, Analysis. Explain more why I want to do what I'm doing and why it has inspired me to do so. I can do this by watching directors commentary and seeing how they talk about what inspired them and why they wanted to do something similar. I also want to improve on my mindset as in to film anything and everything I feel would look good, so I should just to be more open when i'm out to try and capture something in the moment.

Know- This was deadline week so I was trying to get Task 1 finished, I had to finish my essay and do the proposal and action plan. I felt a little stressed as I felt like I had a lot to do and not a lot of time, but from doing my research padlet wall before we properly started helped me a lot in the sense that all I had to was look back on that and I was able to talk about how the research I did inspired me. Before I started writing anything else, I made sure I got up the assignment brief so I was following it and including what it was asking for, such as what the project is about . I also tried to be as critical and analytical as I could, I asked for feedback on how to improve and I took the feedback onboard and was able to add and take out anything. Leila said to be more precise and detailed on certain shots that I was talking about and to be really detailed with it, so I did that throughout the essay as I am aiming to get a distinction and the grading criteria says to be evaluative and reflective. When doing my Proposal and action plan I decided to do it day by day to explain what we were going to do, and explain how it was going to be helpful. This will help our team in the long run of production because it has everything we need to do each day which makes us organised, and as a producer this is one of key skills required.
Do- To make sure I know exactly what the brief wants I broke down the brief and made a padlet wall on exactly what each tasks needs, doing this actually helped me understand what I needed to include. So, by doing the research essay I have to include a minimum range of 4 research types. I spoke about a short film called Can Cowboys Cry because this is the main inspiration that helped me think of the style I want this project to be, I spoke about the progression of our idea and this was helpful because I had all of the mind maps that were written up, and I could see the thought process I had in my part of the idea, alongside being able to work as a team and collaborate our ideas and especially develop the narrative of the story with our Director Sam. I did a survey monkey asking for peoples opinions on what they think regarding cheating and the results I got back were helpful as I got a good amount of responses back, and the majority of people think connection is a strong part of a love story so from this I need to make sure that our actors are able to get that connection across. If we cannot do this then I believe our film will not be as strong as it could be and we will not be able to produce a good project. Also, the word 'trust' got mentioned a lot in the survey, from this I want to be able to try and portray the trust element because this is what the audience wants and believes is related to the topic. To do this we can show how the couple talk and act around each other when things go wrong, for example, by the characters being paranoid is a good way to get this across. On Thursday we visited another location which was useful because we found that this location was actually better suited for the style that we are going for and the scenery and spots we found linked in with our story.
Improve- Keep improving on my analytical writing and be able to do that as second nature, without doing this consistently I won't achieve the grade I am aiming for. Improve on time management as we rushed going out for the location scout. Also improve on my management skills to ensure that we are all up to date with other areas of work, such as diary logs, as some team members have not completed them. By doing this I will make sure my team and I are all on the same stage so that when we start production none of us are behind and I can ensure my whole team are able to get the grades we are all aiming for.

Week 5- 1/05/18- 3/05/18

Know- We went out filming on Tuesday to the River Lee to get a vision on how it looked and we were able to see what scenes we could film in this location, I was able to develop using my initiative by using my surroundings to try different types of shots and angles, alongside working with Tommy who is our camera operator. We went to two different places which were both useful because the scenery is perfect. I have learnt from this though that I need to time the filming for these locations and check the weather on the filming dates, because if we go too late the sun won't be out and it will effect the natural light, so I need to ensure I am organised and am using my time efficiently to plan this and consider all factors. Doing these test shots is helpful for task 2 because it is primary research; the deadline for task 2 is 10th May so the rest of the week I need to continue doing primary and secondary research and ensure I have a minimum of 4 each to meet the requirements of the brief and get the grade I am aiming for; I did this by going to the library and getting some books on short filmmaking and production management. I also spoke to Emma Boys about any advice she could give me about being a producer and managing everything included in the job role such as organisational skills. I also spoke with Delta about how I can manage people and complete paperwork alongside doing this. By speaking to these people I learnt that I just need to manage my time effectively so that I give time to help my team but also ensure I am getting all the documents I need to complete finished too. By using my communication and listening skills I will be able to do this effectively. I found speaking to them was useful because they gave me some tips that I would not have thought of doing such as setting times with my group if they need help and allowing myself time to complete any work that I need to do as a producer.
Do- I was able to apply group work and trying to ensure everyone had a role, especially when we went out to test shoot so we are all being practical and working as a team, I did this by delegating certain tasks to each team member when filming by giving clear instructions. I believe I was successful in doing this because we got some good footage from the test shoots and this was because of how we worked well as a team, and giving members jobs that will help the overall time keeping and staying on track. The only barriers I would say we had were people walking past us when we were trying to get some shots, but that is something that is unavoidable so to get over this we just need to ensure we are being vigilant of our surroundings and the people around us to ensure we don't get them in the footage without any permission. For the rest of the week I was continuing to do research for task 2, I created a survey monkey to find out what people thought of cheating and how we could portray it in the film. From this I learnt that expressing yourself through art is a great way to show how you are feeling and the audience want to see it, so using this in our film will make it strong and we need to make sure we use this to our advantage. I also got from this survey that we should try and show both sides of how she is feeling to try and create a sort of sympathy in a way for the girl who cheated, maybe once he realises he does not need her and she realises what she h lost. I found doing the survey was useful because the feedback helped me get a stronger vision on what we can do and I know now what the audience want to see in a short film about love and heartbreak. This week was open evening and I stayed to help out, this was helpful because I got a focus group together to ask some questions and get some primary research together and get peoples opinions.
Show- All test shoots are on one drive, these are the ones we took this week. https://harlowcollege-my.sharepoint.com/:f:/g/personal/11139655_harlowcollege_onmicrosoft_com/ErD9MkqkwmZBjFfqekd9BvABaw8ykER4o0Omq5CEnAeIBQ?e=dXicFF
Improve- I need to improve on my organisation skills and ensure that as a team I Make sure we have minute meetings every day as this week we didn't do any, without doing these meetings its hard to know what we need to do and work on as a team so I need to improve on this for the future coming weeks to ensure I get the grade I want. From last week I learnt to make sure we are managing time effectively especially when we want to go to different locations and I believe I have used this well this week. Improve on communication within my team to find out if there is anything that they need help with or any workshops we could do together to improve our skills as I know we need to have a Ronin workshop so next week I will speak to Dave and see if we can do this so that we are able to take the Ronin out to location and test using it as this is one of the equipments we want to use in our film for certain shots.

Week 6

Know- From getting books from the library last week it helped further my knowledge on the pre production documents, along with researching into the pre production documents already used in industry. t has helped me know how much detail I should go into In my paperwork, such as tips for rehearsals to ensure the actors have enough time to get used to each other and the script before filming starts. From the book called "The Media Students Book" and speaking with Leila about our casting of actors I learnt it is important to have a casting call of the script so we can see how the script runs and the connection the actors have together, as this is one of the most important things in our production that can make or break our piece.
Do- I worked on my organisational skills this week a lot more compared to last week as I have started writing down everything needed to complete for the day/week so I can see what is left do complete, this is helpful because it helps me stay on track with all the work for myself and my team so none of us fall behind and we can meet deadlines. We spoke about a production team name as a group and we all agreed on "Little And Large Productions", this fits for us as a production team and we were all able to work together and come up with one and agree. By hearing two potential songs for our piece it was useful because of the two different styles they were, as a team we were able to talk through which one was more suitable for our project and what was in our team budget. The second song was in our budget and we believe it fits our target audience more as it is more modern and also suits the character we are trying to portray in our film. When completing task 2 summary this week I struggled a lot with trying to piece my written work together as I wasn't very focused, I think this was because I didn't give myself a break to step back from the work; this effected my performance when trying to complete the work to my best standard. So, from this I learnt to in future if I ever get a block on writing because I have been looking at my work for too long to give myself five minutes to step back and reflect on it. By doing so I will be able to go back and have a fresh mind to carry on. I spoke with Ryan Hardie and he was able to help me proof read over my summary before I submitted it before the deadline, this was helpful because I was able to see where I was going wrong with grammar and my sentences. I learnt to break down my sentences so that it flows better, alongside getting feedback for my task 1 work from Leila I need to make sure I proof read more effectively and getting someone else to help proof read is really beneficial for me as someone else can see what I missed out on. If I do this I can get the grade I am aiming for as I didn't receive the grade I am aiming for, for that piece of work so I need to work on this in order to do better. We had a casting call today with our two main actors to run over the script, this was useful because I was able to see how the actors worked together and how the script flowed. Our choice in actors I believe works stronger than our original choice in the fact of their availability and their on screen performance. The main girl actor was a back up incase the original actors availability weren't suitable for the production of our film. I came in on Friday 11/05/18 to edit together the videos I took yesterday of the first draft of the script. Doing this helped me see how it all looked running together in one piece with adding a snippet of one of the potential songs.
Improve- Continue to improve on being more organised as a producer so that I am able to help my team in what work they should be doing if they are not sure and so we are meeting deadlines. For example, giving myself time every morning to write up our minute meetings so that I am not doing all of them in one go as this week I spent all morning on Tuesday catching up on writing up the meetings and this put me behind schedule on finishing my task 2 summary. Improve on giving myself the right working environment so that it is quiet enough for me to work and if I need a break to make sure I give myself time as this is important so I can produce the best work. Continue to develop my proof reading skills so that I can ensure what I am writing makes sense and flows correctly. Follow PEA when writing so that I am answering all the questions needed to get a distinction in my work, remember to elaborate on the purpose of everything I am saying so I am being detailed enough. I can do this by going over any other diary logs and any further work and asking myself the questions on how to improve on the sentences. Ensure I continue to look at the grading criteria so I know how to get the grade I am aiming to get.

Know- From last week I learnt that test running the script through with the potential actors was really successful, because we were able to see how they got on together and how they looked on screen; which helped us as a team to be more organised which therefore made the process of production run smoothly at this stage. I believe we have made a good choice with our actors because of this. The deadline is Friday and we have a trip Thursday so, by having our regular meetings and discussing what is left to do is useful because we are keeping on top of the tasks, I had wrote down a list of everyone's in the production group's tasks to be completed for the pre production so that everyone is clear in what they need to do by Friday.
Do- I focused on keeping up with the minute meetings, by looking back at previous weeks minute meeting i tried to keep the same format so I ensure I have regular consistency and am aware of what is needed to be completed. I also focused on finishing the production schedule this week, I struggled with this as it took me days to complete it and i wasn't sure what order in which to write it in. I decided to write it up as each location so that it would be easier for me to follow during production. I ensured I gave myself breaks when doing this so that I allowed myself the right head space to continue to complete, as it took me most days and evenings of this week to finish. This week we were able to find a classroom location within college to be able to use to film most of the classroom scenes in, from previous projects I have used this room before and believe it worked really well on camera so this was the first room I thought of. I then got in contact with Sarah Youens to require permission to film in this room, incase this location was available there was another classroom in J building that we could enquire about filming in as a contingency. This week we tested some photos out with three of our actors, this was successful because we were able to get some good photos to use for some marketing materials. When creating a poster, I looked into some posters already out there advertising films and tried to get inspiration on how to make it look professional, I ended up using Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets poster as reference to know what to use in my own. I believe this worked well because comparing my own poster and that one it looks professional, due to the choice of font and format which I used to structure the advertisement. Thursday this week was the trip to Harry Potter Studios, which I enjoyed. This was due to fact that I thoroughly enjoy this franchise, alongside the details they use and show throughout was inspiring and helped link with the film industry and FMP. There were descriptions of the producers and there roles and how they inputed into the films. As it stated, "Producers are actively involved throughout all major phases of the filmmaking process, form inception and development to completion and delivery, all whilst preserving the integrity, voice and vision of the film." This helped me get in the mindset that I am majorly involved in the idea of our project and how it ends up looking.
Improve- Improve on my managerial skills by trying to get my team to listen to me when i ask them to do specific bits of work, as this week I struggled engaging my team to get on with work. So, by doing all I can which is asking and having conversations with my team members to try and get them to understand how important it is to concentrate and complete the work. If this doesn't work, then I will need to speak to any tutors to see If I can get help from them.

Know- By starting filming this week I learnt how important it is to ensure we have the storyboard to hand, to make sure we are recording the right footage in the right locations. Last week when I had written down all of the relevant paperwork down for our team. I had done the same for filming in each location; I used the storyboard to help me do this so that what I could write It down briefly to help production run smoother, as first day of filming didn't go to plan.
Do- I got the required permission to film in UCH building, so Wednesday, our first day filming, can go ahead. In order to utilise our time efficiently we aimed to film all classroom scenes today, we were also able to get some extras to make our classroom scenes more believable. We had filmed scenes outside also, such as the actual cheating scene, we used a location outside the UCH building by the bushes/flowers, with our other actor hiding behind the wall, still in view of the couple. This helped create a shot which explained and showed how sneaky he was being. We got the correct props needed to make the shot, and had a few different takes on the split screen scene, where the classroom is messing around. With the choice of people for this scene I believe worked well because it looked natural and flowed really well. I am glad with the choice of actors we have chosen to play the two main parts, as from filming today and looking back at the footage on camera they both work extremely well together and I can see the emotion they both use to portray their characters; such as Sam's part where he storms in angrily to her classroom. You can see and hear it in his voice how betrayed and angry he feels, which helps make the scene believable. When filming at Tommy's house on Thursday, i do think we were being a lot more vigilant and noticing little details in shot, such as the kitchen scene Tommy noticed that you can see him and me in the reflection, so we retook those shots to make sure we couldn't see that; which is important to notice these little things to make sure there is consistent continuity.

Improve- From this weeks filming, I need to make sure I am more organised and know exactly what is needed to be done for the days ahead. This week I felt quite lost on filming days especially on the first day, as it didn't run as smooth as I had wanted. Finding extras to fill the classroom was a last minute job, which wasn't very professional as I wasn't aware that we needed them. Luckily people were available for us and it went successfully. I got very frustrated on the first day as filming took a lot longer to do for each scene and retakes, as the cast weren't being professional and listening to instructions. The batteries died on the tascam in the afternoon and we couldn't record the rest of the sounds for this day. Because of these issues I feel I took out my frustration out on my team members, which was unfair and unprofessional. This also leads to being more organised and also to be more assertive in future filming dates and creating that relationship with everyone to know that we need to get it done with no messing around. That everyone is aware that they need to listen when I'm explaining what is happening, so that production can run the way it is meant to. I also think we need to slow down slightly when filming each shot, to make sure that the footage we are getting is exactly what we are after, because although some of the shots we got today were useable, some weren't and that is because I think we are rushing to get everything done. But by being precise and looking at each detail, we will get a better result.

Know- I have learnt from the production process so far, that I need to find a better way to manage stress as I don't want to take it out on my team, I will do this by taking five minutes aside to calm down and take it easy, this will help keep things professional. I also learnt that i need to be more organised and plan better, so I had written down what shots and scenes were left to finish this week, this helped filming be more organised and caused less stress, compared to last week as it ran a lot smoother because of this and we worked a lot better in this area of production as a team.
Do- I stayed in constant contact with the progression of the art pieces that were being produced by my friend Sam, to make sure he is able to finish the pieces in time for when we need it. I got the final pieces this week and showed them to my group; and we all agreed that they are really good and fit in with the style of character and the concept of the film. We also received all three pieces of music that is being produced by friend Jay and as a team all agree that it is perfect for what we want, this is because the style of music fits with the characters style. By having these two people It brings a whole sense of originality to the film, which helps link to the key word, alongside the both pieces they created work extremely well together; because they both tell the same story. This helps get the main aim across of the film. When filming we ensured that we slowed down and were being more vigilant, when looking back at the footage, to make sure they were to our standards. We had a scene where the main actor Jessie, was meant to be crying but this didn't work out to plan as she couldn't get herself to cry, so we had to work around it and had asked for her to show her emotion through her tone of voice and facial expressions. lthough, this scene didn't go to plan I believe it still worked and is effective to create empathy for the audience. This week we were faced with some problems, such as decisions with certain shots. There was a particular shot where my name was on the screensaver of my laptop, and you could see it so I said I didn't want to use that bit of footage because it wouldn't make sense and didn't create the correct mise en scene, but other members said that it wouldn't matter and no one would notice it; so we had to have a conversation about using it and the standards that we have for the film and that attitude can't be carried on with filming. We spoke and reasoned with each other in order to get the highest standard, and precise detail in each shots so it is professional. Alongside, miscommunication in regards with equipment, this put us off task because we were being told we had to bring back certain equipment straight away, when we had asked to use it all day. From this, it made us rush our scenes at Tommy's which may have an impact on that certain scene. From this, I learnt especially as a producer, to ensure that everything is double checked when we book equipment out, to guarantee something like this won't happen again and the communication and information is clarified and passed on properly.
Improve- Although my organisational skills have improved from last week I think this still needs to be an ongoing area to improve on. This will make sure that I am fully aware of everything that is done and still needs doing, such as what shots are left to do and if anything needs re doing- including foley and audio. Managerial skills I still need to continue to improve on, for example, going over my team's work and any forms that provide information to do with equipment so that they are done to a high standard, and includes the relevant information intended for production. Improve on communication and relationships with team members, so that we are able to work professionally and listen to each other; as there's been a couple of issues where communication as a team hasn't worked, which impacted the production. So, to ensure we are all easily contactable and reply to messages and are in constant conversation with each other about the footage, and editing process; this will allow us to work together as a team and make sure we make the best film we can together. Keep getting feedback from peers, I got feedback about what people thought of the art pieces which was very useful, as the feedback was relevant and it showed to me that the pieces Sam Eastwick had made fitted perfectly. Which helps back up the whole point of what I want to get across, by using art to explain how you feel.

Week 10

Know- From this past week I have learnt that it is imperative to have team conversations when things aren't going to plan to maintain a strong team relationship with each other, so that we are able to help each other to get a good end result in the project by talking and expressing our views on the subject matter.
Do- By having a meeting to talk about the problems we have had throughout filming and talking about how we overcame them helped us be aware as a team and we will be able to try to avoid these problems; such as continuity issues. Going over footage of the scenes we need to re shoot be 100% sure we know what outfits the actors are wearing, so it will save us having to re shoot more times than we need. Also, as producer managing actors and crew by having conversations with everyone about what is intended to do for the day ahead and to get across the importance of professionalism, when filming, so that we can work together and the production process will go smoother. By looking at the first draft edit for the first time as a team it didn't go very well, I was disappointed with how it looked as it wasn't in order, or in anyway ready to submit for the deadline at the end of the day Thursday. We had sat together and talked through what we thought was good and what needed changing such as; the order of the scenes, the footage used for scene 1 isn't the footage we had agreed on using for that. By talking through it we also noticed that some of the audio used wasn't good enough as the camera audio was used in the edit, rather than the Audio from Tascam. To save time finding the correct audio we decided to re record the bits we had needed with Sam Roper and Sam Wilkes and then with Amanda, so me, Sam and Tommy went and did this whilst our Editor was editing the bits the Director had spoken to her about re ordering. In the afternoon I finished updating the production schedule, and minute meetings so I am now up to date with all of that ready for the deadline. I got some feedback from the first draft edit of some friends by sending them the link and they had responded to me by messages, by saying some of the scenes cut too quickly from each other, that it didn't flow very well. And some of the transitions used made it look unprofessional. I had spoken with our director over FaceTime Thursday night and we had spoken with each other of our thoughts of what we want to change and the feedback I had been given, and now we know exactly what we want to change for it and to amend any changes from feedback. I had put this in our production group chat so our whole team can see and we are able to talk about our own personal thoughts with this. From receiving feedback from Leila we were able to change a scene so it fitted better with the times of day and became more believable, because it was able to develop the character more in depth to show how he makes music/writes songs to get out how he is feeling, by him being restless in bed to waking up and writing music.
Improve- We came across some problem this week as deadline was approaching, especially with the first draft edit; as it wasn't to the standard in which we had envisioned, this was because of a lack of communication between our editor and me as the producer and our director. I need to make sure that our communication as a team is better, to ensure that I am aware of the editing process and how our editor is getting on, in regards if she needs any help at all. Although, I have been constantly messaging and trying to get hold of certain team members when out of college and they do not reply, so I believe I have tried to keep the conversation going and have done all I could at this stage. I need to keep having conversations as a team to make them aware of the importance of staying in contact. As, we weren't happy with the product we saw at the start of the day, if we were in constant contact with each other and viewing it as our editor went along we might not have had the problem in which we had faced this day. So, I will now in the meetings ask to see any work or footage that is being used in the edit before we start anything, so that I and our director can give feedback to help get the final project how we want it. I still need to continue to work on my managerial skills to ensure that we are all putting in the same amount of effort and commitment to this project, that we all stay the same amount of time if possible to support each other with any work for the production. By having certain members leaving early on college days it does affect the overall teams performance, and quality of the work as not everyone is putting in the same amount of effort to get a good final product. Although I cannot make team members stay with us when a certain time comes in the day, but if I need to have conversations with them to get across the importance of us working together as a team to get a better project this might help the relationship we all have as a team.
At the minute I think as a team we are not on the same page, which is why we had problems in the first edit. To help the editor I will go over footage and get the right shots we intended to use along with matching Audio, so she can add and change the right shots for the edit. Again, ensuring our editor stays in contact with us and lets us know how she is getting on with the edit, and if there are any issues she wishes to bring up then we are able to help as a team.

The original idea I had for FMP has changed and progressed into something different but still implementing the main points in which I wanted to get across; which were expressing yourself through different means such as music and art. By allowing Sam to enter our group I think had a big impact on how we could get the best idea as he was a big help In the narrative of the story, but still allowing the use of music and art to be portrayed in it; by showing the audience the characters way of expressing his feelings in his situation. This showed good team work at the start of production as we were all open to listen and help grow the idea. I believe my own personal research was extremely strong as I had varied sources and styles of research from short films, tv shows and personal experiences from friends that was able to help vision what I intended. The use of dialogue used specifically in Life Sentence helped me see how we can get the actors to create tension in our film, which I think we did well; looking at the short film Can Cowboys Cry, it really helped me know what style I wanted to try and get for our film. I believe we got across and with the final result I'm happy with how certain scenes look. I think for next time I would need to expand my research and be sure to ask a range of different people that I don't know of a wider range of generations and opinions, this would help get a broader range of results as different generations deal with situations such as cheating differently and may have different opinions and views. From our first draft edit I got some feedback from peers and tutors and from this I got that the narrative wasn't very strong, in the sense that the audience were unable to feel any empathy for the main character because you don't get to see his relationship together enough for understand where he stands with her. From this I was able to think of a new scene and add it to the script in order for the audience to meet the characters together and show them how they are in a relationship and the moment when Jessie met Edward for the first time, and how it grew from there. I think this really helped to add to the narrative, and makes the rest of the scenes we have make sense. As we were stretched for time I did this and informed my group on what I was doing, as Producer this wasn't specifically in my job role to add to the script; and I should've spoken about what I wanted to add to my director and got him to add to the script himself. This was poor communication skills on my behalf but I feel our director hasn't been fulfilling his role as best as he could, so personally thought it would've been better for me to draft it out at this moment of time. Throughout production I did struggle with managing my team and the cast at times, especially at the beginning of production. There were extremely poor communication skills overall as a team and to try and deal with this I was constantly messaging the group chat we have as a team, about what needs filming, what is left to do ect. But some members were still not responding so I believe I did all I could at this stage to try and get my team to be in contact with everyone. This was frustrating as Producer because it was hard to sort anything out when I had missing information. We had a team meeting one day last week with Delta and Leila, which was a real eye opening for us as a team, as it opened our eyes to how we were being as a team. We had spoken about the problems we were experiencing and how we felt, specifically directing towards the first draft edit as it wasn't anything I was expecting personally. This frustrated me because I was trying so hard throughout production to get everyone to be communicating with updates and if they had any problems, from the communication being poor it resulted in this end result of the first draft. In which I had explained how I felt about this in this meeting and we all had spoken together about our thoughts. As producer I should have made more time available to sit with our editor each day to have a look at the process of the editing, in which I could've been more aware of how it was getting on, rather than taking our editors word that she was doing fine. I was also aware of certain team members who never really stayed as late as other team members throughout production, which also had an impact on the team as we were trying to get everything done and without the Director being there it was sometimes hard to get an end result because we were unable to get his feedback there and then. I had spoken to the director about this and our camera operator had also mentioned in our last week of production about everyone trying to stay as late as they can so we can all work together as a team and create a great end result. This was effective because after these conversations effort was being made and this last week of production has been personally one of the best weeks as we all worked together and communicated effectively. I believe we met the brief, especially along with the main word being originality, because how we got our narrative and meaning across in our short film is unique and hasn't been done in a way in which we have done it before. I believe this as this was also some feedback I had received from a peer, when showing the first edit. The contact I had with Sam Eastwick; who created the art pieces and Jordan Hoskins; who created the music was a great asset to this project because they were original pieces and fitted with our narrative, and without these I think we wouldn't have such a strong piece.
We did have many struggles throughout production and situations were not dealt with in the right manner and professionalism that they should have been. Through the struggles I think it helped me as a producer be more aware of how to deal with issues such as communication and to be more upfront and sort the issue out before it gets worse and we are all left to panic. I do believe we were able to pull together towards the end and I am personally a lot more happy and relieved with our final product because we were able to work efficiently.
From showtime we got a good response of people sitting down and watching, and received some good feedback off people. Our set up was showtime looked well and fitted in with the theme and with the posters we put on the windows by our tables I think made it, and it was nice to see all of our work blew up and out for everyone to see. People liked the look of the tickets that I made and some people did take some of them home, so that was a positive.
