I learned from the article that I read that in a juvenile court, the child can not be in a public court. Only in an adult's case is there able to be a public court. This is because in the juvenile court the kids are minors.

Another important thing I learned from the article is if an adult is found guilty the judge focus on the punishments. If a minor is found guilty in a juvenile court then they focus on rehabilitating the minor.

The last important thing I learned from the article is that a minor who is 16 or 17 can be tried for an adult court case. If it is a severe crime they can be tried for this and sometimes they will be put in adult court. This is on a very rare occasion though.

One interesting fact I learned about from the book is that the difference between Juvenile and Adult detention is huge. In the book the court case that you look at is about whether or not Devon (the main character) is going to the adult or juvenile system, because she is 15. If the court rules adult, she could be in jail for the rest of her life. If the court rules juvenile then she could be out in a couple of years. There is a big difference here.

Another interesting fact I learned from the book is that the prosecutor really knows and studies a lot. When Devon went into court the prosecutor knew all about her and all about how the adult system would help the community because Devon was a "murder."
