Cherry is a social so this is showing how as she reveals that she is a foil charactor to Poney boy,  Poney Boy will not be treated the same as he's treating her. She has the value of status and Poneyboy has the values of sticking by people who you care about and care about you. Very different values so this could end bad.

Sodapop serves as a foil character to Ponyboy because he dropped out of school which in other words means he's not exactly the smartest. For example, Ponyboy values his education and is very intelligent. On page 17 Ponyboy asks "why did you drop out?" Sodapop responds with "Cause I'm dumb. The only things I was passing anyway were auto mechanics and gym." I think that sodapop serves as a foil character to Ponyboy because he is a school dropout, which means he isn't very intelligent. I think this makes him a foil because it makes pony boy look like he is very intelligent to the the rest of the greasers because he reads a lot of books and gets good grades. On page ___ It says "He never collared at Sodapop-- not even when Soda dropped out of school or got tickets for speeding." On page___ it also says "How come you dropped out" I never have gotten over that. I could barely stand it when he left school.

These are some reasons why I think that Sodapop serves as a foil character to Ponyboy.
