         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.) I thought learning about equity vs. equality as it relates to education was very interesting and important. I think the equity unit was also just one of my favorites. It’s interesting to see how many aspects of education are attached to equity, I found myself wanting to reference it in most sections of my BTA paper even if it wasn’t directly related.<br><br>2.) I also enjoyed the philosophical unit, I thought that was really important as in a lot of my music education classes we’ve talked about the importance of building your personal philosophy as a teacher. And it is nice to have even more philosophies and viewpoints to add to my “teacher toolkit” as I work to mesh them into my own philosophy.&nbsp;<br><br>3.) I also really enjoyed our discussion of the Leandro case, that was probably the most actively involved I have been in class since the beginning of the semester and it also ties back in to the topic of equity in education.<br><br>Crystal Barbour</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. learning about the current cases and past cases for education was one of the most eye opening things about this class for me.<br>2. funding for schools was also very interesting to learn about and what the money goes towards for students.&nbsp;<br>3. the philosophies unit was my favorite of the entire class. As I came from an area that had a very diverse funding for schools. Such as my school got brand new things every 5 years meanwhile the school right across the county border gets new things every 20+ years.<br><br>The picture for me shows the classroom, that its important for the future and the students. The first one would have to be the purpose of schooling, I have never realized how many different ways people will look at what education means for them and others.&nbsp;<br>2. The second would have to be financing and how complex it is.          <description><![CDATA[<div>- Completing the BTA paper was very beneficial to my success in this course. It allowed me to dive deep into problems and issues in regard to our education system.<br>- I enjoyed that I was able to step out of my comfort zone as a nursing major and learn about how education has an impact on why schools are the way they are.&nbsp;<br>- Learning about equity was very beneficial to me since a lot of people don't know the differences between equality and equity and this really changed my perspective on how I view education.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;</div><div>From EDUC3200, the thing that was most shocking and important to me was learning about the banned books. This really stuck my interest because yes some books do need to be banned but others are good with helping students critical thinking and learning life experiences through text.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>As for recommending this class to others I would certainly mention there was a good amount of writing, but then follow up with writing of your own interest. I love how this class focused on opinions and ideas to help the school system and not just learning word for word from the textbook.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.          <description><![CDATA[<div>1.)I included the image of yin and yang to illustrate how I feel towards my philosophy of education.&nbsp; I find that like many things in life, my philosophy is not isolated in one school of thought but includes elements of multiple to achieve overall balance.<br>2.) Learning about the financing of each states' education systems was very eye opening.&nbsp; I did not realize that most states rely on local government funding the most.&nbsp; By analyzing where other states succeed can lead to facilitating better education in our own state.<br>3.) Learning about the Leandro state court case was very interesting, in that it allowed me to see how North Carolina is currently treating education.</div>]]></description>
