The Taiga is one of the largest biomes. It is described as the second coldest biome with short wet summers and long cold winters. It is located below the Tundra and can be called the Boreal forest or the Coniferous forest. This biome is not very diverse, it is full of small smaller mammals and a few larger herbivores such as elk. The plants in this biome is mostly bushes, shrubs and trees, nothing to out of the ordinary or diverse.

The Taiga's climate is made up of four seasons, winter, spring, fall and summer but the only one that comes and stays for a long time is winter and the other seasons take up about five months. Their summers can be short and wet and the winters are long and cold. The average temperature of the Taigas summers is 20 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and in the winter time it is around negative 65 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The climate of this biome is dominated by the cold and little rainfall. Taiga gets around 12-33 in of rain a year and most of it falls in the summer time.

Grizzly bear- Grizzly bears are well adapted to the Taiga. They are located in northwestern Canadian tundra. They can stand on their back legs and will stand up to 3 and 1/2 feet tall and they can weigh on an average of 704 lbs. They have adapted to the cold climate of the tundra by having thick coats of hair and layers of fat to keep them isolated. They mostly live off of plants but some may eat insects and honey.
Bobcat- Most bobcats live in forest but some may be found in deserts. Bobcats are around 30 to 40 lbs. Their fur coats change based on the season, in winter their coats are striped, dense and gray then for the summer they are more of a reddish brown color. Bobcats have really long sharp teeth to make it easier when killing prey. Bobcats run really fast which makes it easier to hunt down their prey. They are mostly predators not prey.

Black Spruce- Spruce trees are very tall trees that can grow up to 25 meters tall. They have sharp needles and short branches that are usually layered. Most birds will feed off of these trees. The seeds that grow on this tree gives animals a lot of nutrients. Many of these trees are cut down and used to build houses because of how strong the wood is.
Douglas fur- Douglas furs grow really big they can grow up to 40 to 60 ft tall. Animals love to feed off of these trees in the early springs and winters. These trees are very tough and durable and can withstand harsh conditions. They are covered in very sharp needles that are flat with a pointed tip. They change from green to a grey color once they are mature.

Deforestation- This becoming a huge threat to the Taiga biome. They are cutting down the trees that way they can have wood for paper, timber and to clear out for urbanization. When cutting down trees they are ruining animals habitats and the biome in it's self. Even though laws have been passed to prevent this situation illegal logging is still being done. This will effect the whole climate of the biome and it effects the organisms living in it.
