         <description><![CDATA[<div>Known as the "people's president," Jackson destroyed the Second Bank of the United States, founded the Democratic Party, supported individual liberty and instituted policies that resulted in the forced migration of Native Americans.<br><br><br>This authorized the forcible removal of multiple Native American tribes. By doing this Jackson expanded presidential power by demonstrating that the executive can get away with not enforcing a law. Jackson held the belief that the federal government reigned supreme over the state governments.<br><br>Jacksonian democracy was a 19th-century political philosophy in the United States that expanded suffrage to most white men over the age of 21, and restructured a number of federal institutions. Broadly speaking, the era was characterized by a democratic spirit.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
