I just received a message, that we will have a slight shift in our plan. The time for the visit will be shorter than 3 hours and the timing will change. We have 2 options for the timing, from 3:50- 6:00 or from 6:35-7:50. I think the earlier timing is better since you will almost have 2 hours for the visit, so the group would alternate each spending 1 hour with each group.

Please if any of you have classes in the early timing write it down here in the comments section. Please indicate which course and if you can attend them on another time to notify the Course lecturers.

We will be meeting tomorrow at 3:30 infront of the school Madinty language school. We will stay uptill 6:00 PM. Each group of you will stay with the group of school students for 1 hour only and then alternate with another group and stay for another hour. Please make sure to have your questions focused and make sure to allow for time for drawings.

Please don't forget to bring the materials you need to give them to conduct your study.

Additionally, each of you must prepare the following materials (in addition to today’s feedback revisions).

Blowup spaces for your concept spaces

1. Choose Your Spaces

Each of you must select:

• Minimum: 2 key concept spaces

• Maximum: 4 key concept spaces

These spaces should be the ones that best express your project’s architectural idea. These drawings and diagrams will help you clarify your core idea and understand how your key spaces actually work for your users.

For Each Selected Blow-Up Space, Submit the Following:

1. Spatial Identity Statement (3 sentences max)

A short, architectural explanation of the identity of the space.

• Focus on atmosphere, spatial qualities, and architectural actions (filtering, layering, framing, lifting, compressing, nesting, scaffolding…)

For example:

• “The art expression space is a porous scaffolding volume that opens visually to the courtyard. It layers messy work tables, vertical display panels, and shaded outdoor painting bays. The structure allows students’ expression to be visible and shared.”

• “The quiet play axis uses compressed ceiling heights, soft materials, and built-in nooks to create a retreat-like atmosphere.”

2. Activity Diagram — What Happens Here?

Explain how the space works through an analytical diagram.

Your diagram must include:

• Main activities

• Sequence and movement through the space

• Time/duration of activities

• Sound/mood (quiet, loud, active, focused…)

• Zones of intensity (busy vs. calm)

3. User Engagement Diagram — Who Uses This Space?

Clarify the specific users by showing:

• Age group

• Number of users at once

• Type of interaction (solo / pair / small group / large group)

• Sensory needs (calm, stimulating, shaded, tactile, etc.)

• Physical needs (movement, rest, climbing, fine-motor tasks)

• Supervision requirements (high / medium / low)

4. 1:100 Axonometric Sketch

Your axonometric must show:

• The three-dimensional volume

• Levels / mezzanines / voids

• Key activities and how they sit in the space

• Relationship between inside and outside

• Material or structural cues (light, shading, scaffolding, walls, landscape…)

5. Plan + Section at 1:100

Provide:

• A clear plan

• At least one section cutting through the main activity

• The section must clarify atmosphere, scale, vertical hierarchy, and openings

6. “What Makes This Space Different?” — Short Comparison

Write a short analytical comparison explaining how this blow-up differs from your other concept zones.

Examples:

• Construction Play → ground-focused, heavy materials, stacking, mess

• Rope Play → vertical movement, climbing, suspension, soft landing surfaces

• Quiet Play → acoustic control, seated postures, shelves for puzzles/books

• Craft Play → tables, sinks, daylight, storage for materials

The goal is to demonstrate concept clarity and show that each space reflects a distinct spatial identity, not just a change in furniture.

This will make you understand and touch your core spaces that connect to your concept.

Any student with a medical execuse (A valid one from college) must submit their work tomorrow in room 301 by maximum 12:00 + their submission must inclcude additional studies which will be graded as part of their submission.

As there has been some confusion regarding the required visual outputs, please read the following instructions carefully.

For the Sunday submission, you are required to bring the following shots+ master plan, other floor plans(s) and section:

1. Hero Shot (2 alternatives)

The hero shot is the primary image of your project. It should clearly communicate the core architectural idea, spatial character, and overall concept of the design. This image is expected to represent your project in a comprehensive and compelling way.

2. Context Shot (2 alternatives)

These shots should situate your project within its surroundings, demonstrating its relationship to the site, scale, orientation, and immediate context.

3. Experience / Interior Shots (3 alternatives)

These shots should illustrate key spatial experiences within the project, focusing on atmosphere, user engagement, light, materiality, and scale.

Important Notes:

* Attendance is mandatory for all students.

* You must submit your work between 8:30 and 8:45. After 8:45, the studio will be closed, and discussions will take place only with students who are present and have submitted their work on time.

During the session, we will review and discuss your project individually based on the submitted material.

You are required to submit your final architectural project presented on multiple panels (4-6) measuring 100 × 70 cm or 120*80 cm on padlet and printed.

Each panel set should include the following components:

+ Project Identification

Project title and building typology

+Concept Statement (200–300 words)

Provide a concise and coherent concept paragraph that directly addresses:

• The user group(s)

• The role of memory in shaping the design idea

The concept should clearly articulate how your research informed your design decisions and how memory is spatially translated within the project.

+Main Visual Representation

• One primary (hero) shot that captures the essence of the project

• The image must include users (e.g., children playing, adolescents socializing, visitors observing Dabke performances, etc.) to clearly demonstrate human engagement and scale.

+Project Studies and Analytical Diagrams

This section should visually and analytically demonstrate the relationship between research, concept, and design outcome.

Include:

• Selected elements from your user research and memory analysis that informed your research question and design concept.

• Analytical studies that clearly translate statements from your concept paragraph into architectural evidence.

As a guide:

• If your concept discusses continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, include diagrams or drawings that explicitly demonstrate this relationship.

• If your concept addresses sensory experiences, provide studies illustrating light, sound, texture, smell, or movement.

Programmatic Organization

• Program representation should be shown through zoning diagrams, area percentages, and activity-based mapping, rather than tabulated data.

• Clearly indicate:

• Functional zones

• User groups

• Activity intensity and duration

Zoning and Circulation

• Overall zoning strategy

• Primary and secondary circulation systems

• Special circulation types (e.g., bicycle lanes, running tracks, service routes)

The physical model should be well-crafted and sufficiently detailed, using appropriate materials that clearly communicate the architectural concept, structure, and spatial organization.

+ Portfolio (A3 or A4 format)

The portfolio should document your work week by week, illustrating the development of the project from research to final design. It should also include critical reflections on your design process, decisions made, and how feedback informed the evolution of the project.

Submission for Control Purposes

In addition to the main panels, you are required to submit:

• Printed A3 copies of all panels

• High-quality photographs of the physical model, printed on A3

• A portfolio, printed in either A3 or A4 format
