Over the whole quarter, every other week we would update our progress in writing from this class. We talked about whether we thought we were getting better in our writing through all the different assignments leading to our final essay. And we would write about our struggles we have with writing and this class.

How is writing connected to critical reading? Writing and reading are essential when it comes to learning. I think that’s how we can connect writing and critical reading. When you continue to critically read, you want to also reflect on what you are reading to make sure you understand. That’s when writing comes in. To know you understand the articles you are reading you reflect on it by writing about it. One thing that has helped me with reflecting on the critical reading has been the questions that we answer in the discussions.

How do you begin drafting your ideas? How I like to start my drafting is to take note of all my options and ideas. Then I really like to make connections with the topics I want to write about. For example, I could list the pros and cons or whether I agree with the article or not. Then I would start to find my reliable sources. Then I would start to compose my essay.

What is challenging about starting to write or develop ideas for writing? I would say one challenge would be actually finding the topic to write about. I’m a big overthinker so I tend to always sike myself out about if my idea is good or not. Another thing is understanding if I do have the right idea about the articles I’d be writing about. One of the articles I struggled with was the “Post-Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar” by Gillam and Wooden. I wasn’t sure if I was answering the questions right or not. I wasn’t even sure if I understood the article itself. I had to read it 3 times before I could even come close to answering the questions. But either way, I’m trying.

My writing still needs improvement. But if I keep participating in the discussions I know I Will start to improve! In the past two weeks, we have had quite a few discussions on the articles. The articles in my opinion have been hard for me to understand. I've had to reread some of them a few times. Although the articles can be hard the questions really open up my mind and make me think differently. The questions have helped me think deeper and see the bigger picture. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how much my writing has improved!

My writing obviously still needs improving but thanks to this class, I can definitely see a difference. Although I still have many years to completely grasp the meaning of being a great writer, I can see that I am slowly understanding the different concepts of writing. Writing in my opinion should come naturally to a person. But to use that ability you need to understand and learn how to properly use that natural gift. I can see my improvement through the non-traditional rhetorical analysis and through the actual rhetorical analysis. I can also see improvement just by writing this. My writing ability also show improvement through y research for my essay on racial discrimination! I can’t wait to put everything I have learned in this class towards my final essay!

This class has not been easy for me. From writing, my final essay about racial discrimination to reading and giving feedback for peer reviews it was not been easy. I would really like to say I have Improved but I honestly feel stuck as to who I am as a writer. The final essay was not easy for me. It challenged me and made me want to just give up. I personally feel like I could’ve done better as a writer and student. All I can say is that I struggled as a student and writer for the last two weeks of this class. I will strive to improve my wrist in future classes.

So, this is my writing experience throughout this whole class. You can see my high and lows when it came to my writing improvements. I wish to keep learning and improving my writing throughout my academic future and beyond. In just putting all my writing processes together I can most definitely see how I have and can improve.
