Bloom - The Paper Kites (https://play.spotify.com/track/4M4ErxvoFRhs8fNAlCEq3f)
This is a new discovery for me, but I find myself listening to it a lot. I first listened to it from my Spotify Discover playlist while I was staying in a hospital in China. It soothed my homesickness, since I was away from all the people I love in a hospital in a foreign land. And it was just that upsetting. I remember crying when I listened to it, ahah.

This song is straightforward. It's about the people you love. It's summery, it's innocent, it's sweet. It speaks a lot to my style as a writer in its simplicity. It definitely reminds me of one of my favourite books "Mercury Under My Tongue" by Sylvain Trudel. "Can I be close to you?", they ask, implying just a gentle, hopeful request. It's a majority of the song, and probably a majority of the songwriter's thoughts. It's adorable, and made me miss home a lot.

The top 3 songs that I frequently listened to are:-
1) Make Me Feel Your Love- Adele
- This song reminds me that our parents had sacrificed a lot for us when raising us. They always try to give the best to us as they can. They worked hard just to give us the best living conditions, enjoy what we want and study in the top university. I could say that I'll be nothing in this world without them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0put0_a--Ng
.
I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue,
And I'd go crawling down the avenue.
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love.

The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret.
The winds of change are blowing wild and free,
You ain't seen nothing like me yet.

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true.
Nothing that I wouldn't do.
Go to the ends of the Earth for you,
To make you feel my love
To make you feel my love
^ The line " Go to the ends of the earth for you" really reflect on how my parents willing to do for me. They always tried their best to give me the best of all. I really appreciate what they've done for me so so much. I really love them.

2) Count On Me- Bruno Mars
- This song is on my playlist a very long time ago but I still play it everytime I was in the car. This song reminds me that I have lots of friends to count on. I have a childhood friend which is my neighbour I knew her since we are a baby. Another friend I had known him for 12 years till now we are still best friends we studied in the same primary school secondary school and even now college is the same. Whenever I have problems, they always 24/7 ready to be my listener.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JNtAtGGNRU

3) See You Again- Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth
- This song reminds me my best friend who had gone to England to further her studies. I missed her a lot because she used to be my listener, my hangout partners and the one I can be crazy with. We still chat as always but I still prefer to talk to her face-to-face. She might or might not be back after 5 years so I really don't know when I can see her again.
- This song also reminds me of my grandmother, I missed her a lot. She had passed away when I'm only 2. I had a lot of memories with her, she used to sew nice clothes and comfy blankets for me. She sewed a lot of blankets for me in different sizes for me when I grow up from baby size till now what I am. The blankets that she sewed for I still using it until now and I always tried to keep them properly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgKAFK5djSk

How can we support the music industry further?
- I think that we should not download music illegally. We can subscribe or pay for the music in iTunes or pay for the premium in Spotify. I think that we can also purchase the album of our favourite singer in shops like Speedy, I think the price is not that over priced.

The repetition of the same line is reminiscent of the moments in my life filled with hopeless, desperate queries.

My top 3 favourite songs

1) Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXRviuL6vMY

The reason why I choose this song as my #1 is probably cause it relates to me and mostly everyone around us. Their lyrics can hit some of us hard, depending on who the person is.

In particular, the verse of the song explains a few factors already.
"I wish I found some better sounds no one’s ever heard
I wish I had a better voice that sang some better words
I wish I found some chords in an order that is new
I wish I didn't have to rhyme every time I sang
I was told when I get older all my fears would shrink
But now I’m insecure and I care what people think"

This verse tells us on how all of us are seeking something new and not trying to copy others. We are afraid of being different sometimes, we wanna fit in and also when they mention " When I get older all my fears would shrink, but now I'm insecure and I care what people think" tells us that we become fearless but unfortunately we still care about what society thinks of us even though we were wanna over calm it.

The chorus on the other hand is self-explanatory as we just wanna turn back time when we were stress free.

"Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out
Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days
When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out"

The last part of the song is a sudden realisation of what we truly need in life. It tells us to wake up from our dreams and live up to the current reality

"Used to play pretend, used to play pretend, bunny
We used to play pretend, wake up, you need the money
Used to play pretend, used to play pretend, bunny
We used to play pretend, wake up, you need the money
We used to play pretend, give each other different names
We would build a rocket ship and then we’d fly it far away
Used to dream of outer space but now they’re laughing at our face
Saying, "Wake up, you need to make money""

2) Afraid by The Neighbourhood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LILL0AV0938

This song generally represents fear within me at times. I do listen to The Neighbourhood during my down time like late nights when I wanna unwind. The lyrics in this song are a bit explicit but it makes sense.

This is the pre-chorus as it shows hate, anger, emotion when it comes to feelings towards someone. It says we want a release from someone or something wanting to just finally let go of the rope.
"You’re too mean, I don’t like you, f*ck you anyway
You make me wanna scream at the top of my lungs
It hurts but I won’t fight you
You suck anyway
You make me wanna die, right when I"

The chorus on the other hand, shows us the fear if we let go of that particular person, we can be replaced easily. As how almost everything is easily replaceable. It feels as if there's no genuine feelings towards one another.
"When I wake up I’m afraid, somebody else might take my place [x3]
When I wake up I’m afraid, somebody else might end up being me"

The second verse is telling us to fight the negativity while we can. Maybe replace the someone with someone else and forget abot them cause they can be very irelevant in your lives.
"Keep on dreaming, don’t stop breathing, fight those demons
Sell your soul, not your whole self
If they see it when you’re sleeping, make them leave it"

3) Paradise City by Guns N' Roses
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbm6GXllBiw

This I would consider as a classic and it just hypes you up. The amount of energy you can get from listening to this song is just amazing hahahaha.

The chorus just describes sense of freedom and wanting to have fun
"Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home
Take me down
To the paradise city
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Take me home

Second Question

If most of us are unwilling to pay for music, our inner typical Malaysian channels in as we all are suckers for things that are FREE. Event organisations can invite them to perform and it gives the indie singers more popularity as it can create a bigger fan base for them.

1. Good for You - Eric Nam
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oj19r9A67c
This is my go-to song when I'm down or when I feel alone. "And I know you’ve felt so alone before. But I’m here to take you as you are yeah", this really speaks to me. Especially "I'm here to take you as you are". There will always be people judging in school or in work or even among family members. I have been through a tough high school life where my schoolmates like to judge people. I had to always be someone I'm not to fit in or not be judged at. One day, a girl came to me and played me this song. She told me not be someone I'm not and just be yourself. After that, we became best friends and she made my high school life
more fun.

2. Downpour - I.O.I
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AADHVsit4A
This song means a lot to me. When my best friend had to leave for further studies in the states, this song coincidentally was released. The lyrics were just so relatable. "I’m getting all wet right now. I don’t even have the strength to open an umbrella. But we know, Let me just cry for a moment. As I lean on the rain, So you won’t see our sad tears". She was my best friend since birth, so she means a lot to me. The moment she left me, tears starting pouring. Although now I'm okay, but i still miss her. In the beginning, i would cry in the shower so that no one would know. LOL. But this song is really helpful when you feel like crying.

3. Count on Me - Bruno Mars
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-OxRox4Wvk
Count on me has always been on my playlists since the start of my high school. "You can count on me like 1, 2, 3, I'll be there". When i need someone to be there for me but no one is there this part of the lyrics really spoke to me. This song is just simply about someone being their when you need he/she.

For me, I'll go their concerts and show my love for them. Also people should really support them by buying their albums. Artiste takes a lot of time and effort to produce a good album. The least we can do to support them is to buy their albums so that they know there are people supporting them.

People should buy their favorite artist's album to shows support and not just saying with mouth but no action with it. Just my opinion, while you're at a concert, buy the T-shirt or poster and more. Merchandise that u bought would help a lot for the artist. Artist earn more, he happy. He happy, we happy. We happy, everyone happy.

The song tells the story of a fictional character "Mrs potato head" and her pursuit for beauty in order to please society, shush her own demons and please her "Mr potato head".

If you weren't born with it
You can buy a couple ornaments
Just be sure to read the warning, kids
'Cause pretty soon you'll be bored of it, ha-ha
Sexual, hey girl if you wanna feel sexual
You can always call up a professional
They stick pins in you like a vegetable
This paragraph talks about how girls who aren't to happy with their outwardly appearances choose to resort to plastic surgery and go under the painful procedure of going under the knife, being treated like a "vegetable" and how they may end up getting "bored" of or regretting their choices later on.

Kids forever, kids forever
Baby soft skin turns into leather
Don't be dramatic, it's only some plastic
No one will love you if you're unattractive
These lines talk about how young women who believe they aren't "attractive" enough go to drastic measures to look better in the hopes of being loved, it shows how society has taught us how we are unlovable if we aren't attractive.

Oh, Mrs. Potato Head, tell me, is it true that pain is beauty?
Does a new face come with a warranty?
Will a pretty face make it better?
Oh, Mr. Potato Head, tell me
How did you afford her surgery?
Do you swear you'll stay forever?
Even if her face don't stay together
This paragraph shows the conflict that girls face , the questions, doubts and fears as to whether a pretty face will really help them be happier and seek love and whether if it all vanishes if what they gained will be lost again.

If you want a little more confidence
Potatoes turn to french fries, yeah it's common sense
All you need's a couple more condiments
And a hundred thousand dollars for some compliments
These lines show how one can gain false confidence by transforming themselves with a few more additions or "condiments" and a lot of money to be able to get some "compliments"

It's such a waste
When little girls grow into their mother's face
But little girls are learning how to cut and paste
And pucker up their lips until they suffocate
These lines portray how girls who grow to look like their mothers somehow end up hating themselves and how the beauty they inherited goes to waste, and how they instead rely on cutting and pasting features and body parts and put themselves through pain just to feel beautiful.
